Troy Young Wins Week 9 Prize

Post by Tom Kessenich » Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:13 am

Congratulations to Troy Young, whose Topdogg team in New York League 4 led the way in the NFFC last week with 235.35 points.

A record-setting week from Adrian Peterson (49 points) led the way for Troy's big week. Tom Brady (30.15), Kellen Winslow (23.5) and the Pittsburgh defense (22) also had big weeks.

For finishing first last week, Troy wins a Matt Leinart Autographed Cardinals Mini-Helmet courtesy of Upper Deck Authenticated. Congratulations again to Troy and good luck to everyone in the NFFC this week.

I highlighted TOPDOGG two weeks ago as the team to beat. He's the only main event owner with both Tom Brady and Randy Moss, and also has Adrian Peterson. That's the #1 QB, #1 RB and #1 WR through 9 weeks. Mighty impressive.

A notch below the Brady-Moss coupling but add LT2, K.Jones, Sant.Holmes, K.Curtis among others... geez.

Here's a look at Troy's draft. He picked second:

1. Jackson
2. Brady
3. R.Moss
4. Peterson
5. Galloway
6. Winslow
7. D.Mason

He got the Steelers in the 11th but those seven guys have been the core of his team to date. Peterson was obviously a steal in the fourth. Brady was the fourth QB chosen (Manning went in the first while Brees and Palmer went in the second before Brady). Moss was his third round pick but looking at 3RR here are the WRs taken before Moss:

Holt
A.Johnson
Houshmandzadeh
Walker
Colston
Boldin
Driver
Evans

Moss was the 16th WR taken in the New York 4 draft. Peterson was the 21st RB taken.

Peterson in the fourth I wish Couldn't grab him in the 3rd as planned in my league urghh. This proves it's not neccesarily your skill it's the lack there of the people near you. 3 or 4 bad teams on either side really changes things. Every mock draft I did or did off an existing one was differnt and better than the main it really depends who is near you and if they think alike.

Now we know why coach Childish has been holding down AP from playing much till now:

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson is padding his bank account with every yard he gains.

The Minnesota Vikings' rookie earned a one-time, $2.45 million bonus when he passed 701 yards this season. And he can add significantly to his bank account in upcoming seasons if he keeps going. Peterson ran for an NFL record 296 yards last week against San Diego.

Peterson's contract and incentives were broken down by the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Tuesday. Among the nuggets:

• He can add $2.5 million to his 2010 salary (set to start at $2.695 million) if he rushes for more than 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons.

• If he rushed for 1,300 yards once, he puts another $1 million onto his 2011 salary, set to begin at $3.94 million. If he passes 1,300 yards twice, he adds $3 million to that number.

• Should Peterson rush for 2,000 yards or 20 touchdowns, he adds $1 million each time he does it to the 2011 base salary.

Peterson

• He's also eligible for a $250,000 bonus if he's the rookie of the year, the most valuable player in the league or the Super Bowl MVP.

Add it up, and Peterson could earn $40.5 million through the life of his current five-year deal. He's guaranteed $17 million.

Peterson has rushed for 1,036 yards and nine touchdowns (eight rushing, one receiving) in eight games thus far this season.
