Shockey's best year was 74 rec. Recent production was around 65 rec.

Let's say he goes to 77. His average ypr is 11.4

Equates to 77/880/ and let's say 8 TDs.

I'm not willing to give him full value based on his new team. So, I'll go 71/815/7 as his upside.

That puts him at TE4 on my board.

I'm willing to take him 6th. I was willing to take him 8th. So, for me, that's a slight upgrade.

Shockey's most catches since 2005 is 66. Tony Gonzalez had 99 last year on a very bad offense. Chiefs QB play and O-line may be a little better this year.
I also like Sean Peyton's offensive scheme, Drew Brees, and playing in a dome.
I probably have Shockey at 5 on the TE list.

But, I am not thinking too much about top 7 tight ends. Hoping to wait until around round 10 and get Crumpler or Owen Daniels.

I really enjoy reading the posts. Good stuff!

I forgot to put in my 2 cents about Brees.

I am planning to go WR/WR in rounds 2 and 3 so I probably will not have the Brees vs Romo dilemna. Just too many elite WR's available in the 2nd and 3rd round to think about another position.

Romo +
good scrambler (had 131 yards and 2 TD last year)
better O-line
Witten and T.O. probably better than Colston and Shockey

Brees +
perfect weather in that dome
bad D so gets to play from behind and pass a lot
Peyton has creative pass offensive
Dallas will pound Barber and not pass as much as Brees will

Tough call.
I plan to be in four leagues and will probably not take a QB until the 6th round in any leagues this year.

Have my sites on a QB who should be available around pick 70 that I expect to have a very good year.

But, if I had to take a QB around pick 20 I would probably take Romo.

Bill,

Good luck with your QB in the later rounds. My 2 cents: If you're targetting Roethlisberger, his schedule is brutal. If you're targetting Garrard, just remember the Jaguars put all of their eggs in one basket with Porter, and now he's suffering with hamstring issues. So it's Reggie Williams and Dennis Northcutt there. Again, good luck. I know it's a tough call to consider a QB in the first 3 rounds, so you have to go with your gut on the mid-range QB's after that.

GEKKO -" i hope no one has Romo ranked ahead of Brees " is that reverse psych.? So ur telling me that Colston is better than T.O. and Shockey is better than Witten !!!! More mind games ? "we have Romo ranked higher than Brees"- The Ambiguously Gay Duo

Big Ben's schedule should only help his passing numbers IMO. Playing from behind usually leads to less running and more passing.

Brees will throw more passes than Romo this year. I really like Romo and Brees, but with Shockey, I prefer Brees.
