Perry, I'll say the same to you as I said to Kevin: I understand as a player why you are gloating over this, but as a person in the industry I'm disappointed in your boastful post above. I would think you would understand how dangerous it is to just change your prize structure after people have played your contest and paid for it. KJ is insistent that no legislator will pay attention to secondary prizes being altered, but the truth of the matter is that this is now a bad precedent that opens a new can of worms for all of us who do this for a living.

If 300 drafts were already done under the old prize structure and 3,000 people already paid for this contest under the old guarantees, why is it okay to suddenly change the guarantees to your liking without asking for permission from those who are competing? It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year when those who finish in those altered prizes talk about the prizes they originally signed up for.

Again, I'm happy for you as a player. But boasting about this contest that just reduced the other prizes to stay alive for this year? Not so sure I'd jump on that bandwagon.

Greg I am not even in that contest and am not boasting. I was merely pointing that out for all those who said it would never happen.

As for changing the rules I think it was pretty clear in their rules that the payouts could be changed by a certain date and that anyone who didn't like the change could withdraw and get their entry back. Certainly as long as the Grand Prize was guaranteed, I doubt any of the contestants are worried about reductions in the 2nd-15th prizes.

They will lose money this year, at least it is the strong likelihood. But they will create a lot of new interest in FF which will populate their contest for next year and generate more interest in the bigger, better, purer contests like NFFC/NBC.

insistent ??? what I said was "my guess" would be that it wouldn't interest legislators. Also, I don't have a comprehensive legal understanding of the legislation nor the legal language in the FFOC rule section.

I just like fantasy football.

Don't worry Greg, the NFFC is still #1 in my book. You're getting wayyyyyy more of my entry fees than that other contest.

I seriously don't like what FFOC did. Even though the payouts are still good, I informed them I was withdrawing. They had no problem with that and will refund my money (not an issue, can put a hold on the charge anyway).

FFOC Text (copy and pasted from web site)

A $1,000,000 cash Grand Prize will be awarded to the winner. GUARANTEED!!!

Participants draft online. No one is turned away, enter as many times as YOU want for even more opportunities to win $1,000,000.

WE COULDN'T MAKE IT EASIER IF WE TRIED!

Unmatched Credibility -ALL Prizes Are GUARANTEED!!!!
Just curious ... fine print is to further explain the bold print. I'm not sure you can contradict the bold print. :D

Details and restrictions are one thing ... but to put in fine print that the bold print was not true and only a line to get you hooked (but we didn't mean it sort of thing) ... is laughable.

I wonder what unmatched credibility means?

I was pretty sure I knew what all prizes guaranteed meant?

EDITED 8-29
A lot of Guarantees have conditions in fine print disclaimers. Since one other fantasy company example I gave in another thread (Thread disappeared?) is no longer around I'll just erase the other example I used here too.

I did get another email from Krause/Fantasy Informant promoting FFOC today. I find that a little strange given some of the posts towards FFOC on these boards ... especially some posts in the thread that I can't find anymore.

Final 10 abandoned Teams that remain will be sold to other owners today.

This just came across my desk:

'did it actually happen like everyone has said that some people were putting in ronnie brown after the game started and if so what are you doing about it. would like to know that everyone is playing by the same rules'

Not good if true. How is everyone doing that is playing in this contest? Paul's team that was sold for $17.00, I guess not so good.

"I also heard about a glitch where people could see others bids before they did there bid by clicking on bidding results.. I didn't believe that was possible as it seemed really stupid for something like that to pass by quality control. However I went and checked it out and it actually was true.."
