NFL has had 'substantive' talks about holding Super Bowl in London
The NFL is more seriously considering the possibility of hosting a Super Bowl in London.
Frank Supovitz, the league's VP of events, told the BBC that a move to London would be several years off but that NFL officials have discussed some logistics with their London counterparts.
"We've spoken on what it would take to host and for us to bring it over," Supovitz told the network. "The city has all the facilities needed, and in great quantity.
"We have had very substantive conversations with the city of London. We've got to the point of exploring the bid document."
The NFL will stage a regular-season game in London for the third consecutive season this year. Tickets have been in demand for all three games.
The city is integral to the NFL's stated goal of taking the game more global. Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged in February that the league can envision eventually placing a team in London, but he did not offer a timetable for when it could happen.
"The NFL is a global property, has a global audience, and London is an incredible city from a sports fan's perspective," NFL sales and marketing chief Mark Waller told the BBC.
"I don't think it's an unrealistic prospect at all."
But there could be backlash from fans in America if the league decides to send the game overseas.
The next three dates for the Super Bowl are booked -- Miami in 2010, Dallas in 2011 and Indianapolis in 2012.

Goodell should be deported for even considering this. There is nothing more American than the SuperBowl. And what are they going to do about TV? The game would start at 1230am London time??? Or are they going to sacrifice the TV ratings and start earlier.
