you will likely leave a 14-team draft with 1 weak spot on your roster.

With that said, I'd suggest you pick where you "want" to be weak and draft accordingly.

if subscribe to ultimateffcheatsheet,,receive this insight will i?

Bill,

The first issue, before worrying about the FA pool is practicing going deeper into a draft. That means joining a few of the NFFC satellites and getting your feet wet. Draft in real time and under the pressure of time constraints. This practice will pay off come draft day when it really matters.

On to the FA pool. Since there is usually less talent available and almost all teams are somewhat weak at one position or more, when a player takes over a starting position and he wasn't drafted, it usually creates a frenzy. A starting RB during the season will likely go anywhere from a few hundred to over 990 depending on the needs of the teams in question. You simply balance your team needs with the with the needs and FA$'s of your competitiors and make a bid that fits your plan. Do you shoot your wad in week 2, week 4 or week 8? Sometimes you may feel you need to. Follow your instincts and don't look back.

I personally think that this years FA Pool is going to have more significance this year than in years past.

Good Luck this year

Many good suggestions. Thank you.

Hoping to learn what I can before it starts and not have too much of a learn "on-the-job" experience my first year.

I am coming in used to:
only 6 reserve spots
almost always good free agents available
no limits on picking up free agents
trading

For example, sometimes I would get only 1 TE since I knew I could just grab a decent one from the free agent list during the bye week or in case of injury. Also, usually drafted only a little depth at WR. The free agent list always had a couple you would not mind putting in your starting line-up here and there. I could draft a little strong at one spot(sometimes just taking the best player available) and weak at another thinking I could make a trade later to balance things out.
With the free agent pool being so thin and no trading allowed, I need to make sure I make the right adjustments to my usual preferred strategies.

I have noticed many leagues have toned down the QB scoring some. I guess a reaction to the recent years where sometimes a QB will throw 5 or 6 TD passes in one game and score a crazy high fantasy point total. Some leagues have gone to 4 points for QB TD passes and 1 point for 25 yards.

Looks like here good QB's are very crucial with 6 for TD's and 1 pont for 20 yards passing.

Almost every first year owner that is used to different rules probably makes many mistakes. I appreciate everyone's input that will help me to avoid some of the common first year owner misguided moves.
But, I do not expect too much help since we will be competing against each other!

Bill,

If you join, from what city will you draft out of? If you haven't joined, why NOT?

I don't know who this imposter is, but he's not me.

I do need to join a satellite league though. Time to sharpen the blade! Thanks for remembering me.
