For the Gekko's of the world.

John Kerry proposes that if President Bush is reelected President he’ll install a draft. So I decided to look at the history of the draft. The draft started in 1940 under F. Roosevelt. It continued until 1973. Under Nixon/Ford the draft went away as did the registration requirement. In 1980 President Carter resumed the requirement for young men 18 years old to register for the draft. During the last 20 years the pressure was put on the military to include women in combat operations. It was considered an equal opportunity issue. Of course President Clinton who pushed the hardest on this issue never tried to include women in the draft registration. Based on history you can pretty well see that Kerry is in the party that would draft and President Bush is in the party that would stop it.
