What does it take to win?

Interesting how much things have changed just since that published draft, not even counting that some of the guys (GG) deliberately reached to make the results unusable. ;)

This is going to be a wide open draft with lots of surprises. So many new names. The RB list is deeper than I can ever remember, but full of question marks. It will be possible to get a decent RB in the middle rounds, if you're lucky enough to choose the right guy. The WR list also has lots of relatively new names.

I think that the hth results will be closer than ever. In WCOFF, you needed to go 8-3 to have a legitimate shot. In NFFC, I think 9-4 will be competitive and an 8-5 team might be involved in a tie break for top place.

With no real jerks drafting, I could see:

9-4 (1)
8-5 (2)
7-6 (3)
6-7 (3)
5-8 (2)
4-7 (2)
3-9 (1)

Critical will be luck of the draw. The winning team will not only be good, but it will get 2 or 3 of the top 7 RBs on their bye. It will be very difficult to win when your RB1 is on a bye.

Hmmm, the more I type, the more I think luck is a pretty big factor. What a surprise.

First of all, luckis a huge factor. What if I said, (purely hyptothetical) between Duce Staley and Thomas Jones, ONE of them will be a top 10 RB, and the other willl be benched by Week 5!

Could anyone out there predict which one would succeed and which one would fail with 100% accuracy? Apparently not, as I have seen countless rankings where these guys are right next to each other, some with Jones ranked higher, some with Staley ranked higher, etc. The bottom line is the guy who picks the right RB looks like a genius, and the other guy goes down the toilet. All because one is preferred a little more than another. NOTE: if you feel Jones will be much better than Duce or vice-versa, then substitute two players you are "on the fence" with.

Luck is ALWAYS a factor, and like Jersey Paul stated, there shouldn't be any idiots "reaching" for players, so all the leagues should be pretty competitive.

As far you Gekko, come on...... we all know you are going to do whatever it takes to get Curtis Martin! ;) (even it means taking him in the 2nd round!)

All I am trying to point out Gecko is there shouldn't be as many "idiots" as you are used to playing with, so you may need a little luck to be successful (by "you" I mean all of us!)

You have some SERIOUS "gotta be in control problems" Gekko. You love to just tell everyone they are "WRONG!", like you are the authority or something!

A little advice.... "I disagree" sounds much better than "WRONG!" as you don't come off nearly as arrogant.

In a 14 team league, I'm gonna guess that ~3 owners won't have a chance of winning some $ coming directly out of the draft.
