And there it is ... two years in a row I have my team peaking at just the right time for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the final game of the regular season. I hate the Diamond playoff structure, simply hate it.Shrink Attack wrote:I need Tynes to score 1 point to win H2H in the Diamond.
He'd better be careful not to get hurt on the opening kick off!!
Strangely, I'm genuinely nervous about it...
What do you need Monday night?

Truth be told KJ, it's obvious to me that your team is better than mine. I weakened, you surged, and I got lucky multiple times. In all honesty, you're more deserving of a playoff spot than I am.kjduke wrote:And there it is ... two years in a row I have my team peaking at just the right time for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the final game of the regular season. Since things tend to even out in the long run, I hope the pendulum swings back into your direction next year.

... NOW he misses. He'll probably miss 3 tonight.
Congrats Paul, it isn't easy to get to 11-2 - you definitely deserve a spot in the playoffs.

This is unbearable. 7.3 pts so far.mattjb wrote:Victor Cruz to score less than 14.40. As the game is here in DC I might pop out at lunch to pay him a little visit

Ugh, going to be sick. Was up 37 points coming into tonight, he had Garcon and Tynes. They combine for 23 in the first half. Need to see a defensive half.

How would you change the format, KJ?kjduke wrote:And there it is ... two years in a row I have my team peaking at just the right time for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the final game of the regular season. This was a strange league. The best record (11-2) finished middle-of-the-pack in points, while the #2 (5-8) and #3 (6-7) scoring teams wound up with losing records.BillyWaz wrote:How would you change the format, KJ?kjduke wrote:And there it is ... two years in a row I have my team peaking at just the right time for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the final game of the regular season. A or B below would be a massive improvement. More fun, more fair.BillyWaz wrote:How would you change the format, KJ?kjduke wrote:And there it is ... two years in a row I have my team peaking at just the right time for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the final game of the regular season. A) Victory pt setup with 6 playoff teams - top 2 get a bye thru the playoffs with one of the bottom 4 seeds getting eliminated in each of the first two weeks of the playoffs. Call those the wildcard elimination rounds.
B) Same setup as above but staggering h2h and pts for the top 6 seeds. In this case I'd also implement the H2H-bump concept to reduce the bad beat/ lucky win aspect of H2H.
Along with either of the above, keep the 3-week total points playoff but have every team take their regular season scoring avg into the playoffs as a starting point.
Re: What do you need Monday night?
Just to add on to the above set-up. The argument against more playoff teams has always been that it doesn't do enough to reward the best teams. But with the wildcard elimination, the top 2 teams are guaranteed to remain in the playoffs which is ultimately still a 4-team race, and the top scoring teams have the additional edge of starting the playoff with a point edge.
It also opens up the race to the bottom tier of playoff teams who in many cases are in very tight races. It keeps more teams involved all season, so a few bad weeks because of injury doesn't eliminate you from contention -assuming you can re-build thru FAAB or get healthy.
