Henry Muto Wins NFFC Online Championship & $100,000

Barring a scoring change during the week, Henry Muto of Geneva, Ohio will be the NFFC Online Championship winner and the owner of our $100,000 grand prize. Henry currently holds a 1.89 point lead over Ken Magner for the top prize as this contest went right down to the very end on Sunday night. Now we all have to wait for Elias scoring changes through Thursday to see if the standings change at all. But for right now, CONGRATS HENRY!!

Henry's Wyverns teams entered Week 16 ranked 2nd overall among the 368 teams in the Championship Round and the Wyverns then put up 164.85 points (126th best) to move into the top spot. He trailed Ken Magner heading into the Sunday night game and got just enough points from Marshawn Lynch to take the lead in the 4th quarter and had to hold on against Michael Crabtree who was held without a catch on the final drive to take the title. Henry also has a team that finished 4th overall, which is an amazing feat when you consider that we had 1,872 total teams in this contest. CONGRATS AGAIN HENRY!!

Henry didn't even win any league money with this Wyverns team as it finished 3rd in the Sept. 3rd 8 pm Online Championship League. It earned a Wild Card berth into the Championship Round by finishing in the Top 15% in total points and then got hot over three weeks to win $100,000. Wyverns entered the Championship Round ranked 152nd out of 368 teams with a weekly scoring average of 146.59 points. The Wyverns then scored 191.3 points in Week 14 (15th most), 197.35 in Week 15 (3rd most) and 164.85 points in Week 16 (126th most) to top 700 total points for the title.

I actually had Lynch score me 27 pts last night to get me the lead and both Ken and JR had Crabtree so I was sweating out that last drive as any pass to Crabtree for 9 or more yards would have knocked me out of 1st place. Amazingly I was in 1st and 2nd place during that last drive and was one play away from winning both 1st and 2nd if SF does not score a TD on 4th and 17 on what amounted to the final play of the game I would have got 1st and 2nd and was such a strange feeling when SF scored as I knew I just lost $20,000 but I had won $100,000 barring some onside kick to get SF the ball back. At that moment I didn't even care I had lost 2nd place and $20,000 because I had just won $100,000 and 1st place but wow I was so close to doing something that may have never been done.

After Saturday's huge games from Calvin, White and Matt Ryan I fell to 15th place going into Sunday and on Sunday I was playing in several other leagues so I decided not to even look at who any other teams had or where I stood in the standings during the 1 PM and 4 PM games. I let all the games play out and then at 8 PM was the 1st time I looked at the standings and there I stood 5th overall with Wyverns team and 2nd overall with the Black Dragons so then I started checking team by team to see who everyone had left and when I seen one person had Crabtree left and another have Crabtree and Lynch I knew it was going to be some final game. Lynch scoring 2 quick TD's set this up for night I will never forget all the way down to the final play of the game.

Going into the draft this was my 1st of 7 NFFC online championship drafts and I had put in my KDS for a top 3 pick as my 1st option and was disappointed with 7th pick. I felt Foster, Rice, McCoy would all be gone for sure and likely Rodgers and Calvin would be as well. I was hopeful to land Calvin and when he went 6th overall it was crushing and I settled for Brady. In the 2nd round I went Gronk which is a pretty high pick for a TE in the NFFC and some told me I reached for him as many other WR's still on the board were projected to score more pts. In the 3rd I was hoping for AJ Green who went 1 pick before me again I was crushed and ended up taking Lynch who was falling more every day with the "back spasm" news coming out of his camp. In the 4th round I was targetting Dez Bryant and again was crushed when he went 2 picks before me and I was feeling that this was turning into the worst draft of the year for me. So in the 4th I reached for Decker a guy who usually goes in the 5th. In the 5th I went with Lloyd who was getting some hype and then the 6th I took Wayne as I thought he had a chance for a nice year with Luck but still walking out of the draft with Decker, Lloyd and Wayne as my top 3 WR's had me feeling a bit uneasy. The key pick for me was Spiller in the 8th especially to end the year when Fred Jackson got hurt again. LeShoure was another nice pick in the middle rounds he was very solid for me during the regular season but he would never play for me in the 3 playoff weeks. I reached for SF in the 12th that was a mistake I never even played them to end the year the last 2 weeks.

The 2 big FA pick ups for me this year was Moreno in week 13 and Pitta because Gronk went down.

I lost my 2nd round pick and 2nd best player Gronkowski to injury. My team posted a 103 in week 13 costing me the league's best record and league playoff berth. This team vaulted from 444th to 108th in the overall standings after posting a 197 score in week 8. In week 9 a score of 179 moved the team into 40th overall as Palmer scored 44 pts on Brady's bye week the only week I would ever use Palmer. The team bounced between 40-69 the next few weeks before tanking in week 13 with 103 pts and falling to 152 missing the league playoffs but making a wildcard. The key FA pick up of the year for me was in the final waiver wire where I had just enough FA money to bid $160 on Moreno (2nd high bid was $129). I did not start Moreno in week 13 but in the 1st week of the playoffs I had to sit 1 RB from Lynch, Spiller and LeShoure to get Moreno going vs Oakland so I sat LeShoure and that turned out to be key as Moreno scored 26.7 pts while LeShoure tanked with 4.9 pts. The other key decision was what to do with Brandon Lloyd who was awul in weeks 10-13 scoring 9,8,5, and 2 pts. The only problem was I was never able to find a decent WR off the waiver wire in this league as I only had K-Wright and Avant as depth so I stuck with Lloyd vs Houston on Monday night and 27 big points including a key fumble recovery for a TD that turns out to be huge in the end.

I could not get the K or DF right week in and week out. Of course my biggest mistake of my life took place putting Janikowski in on my regular season line up and not my championship line up when he put up 20.8 pts in week 15 I never dreamed I could overcome this.

So that is my story on how the draft and season went for this team.
