Updated NFFC Online Championship Prize Pool

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Sep 14, 2011 9:36 am

We are updating the prize grid on the League page for the NFFC 12-Team Online Championship, but once that is done note the following changes. The grand prize has increased from $40,000 to $60,000 thanks to this event expanding from a goal of 600 teams to 948 teams. We also increased all of the overall prizes from 2nd to 10th and added $350 prizes for teams from 11th to 20th place, adding eight payouts there.

In the Consolation Round, we've increased the top prize from $2,000 to $2,500 and added payouts to 10 spots now from six before. The Regular Season Total Points Leader after Week 13 also now receives $1,000, compared to only $350 before.

And to keep teams fighting in the playoffs, we've added High Point Total prizes of $700 for all teams in the Championship Round and Consolation Round for Weeks 14, 15 and 16. Let's keep everyone fighting for prize money during the most critical time of the year, whether you're fighting for $60,000 or $2,500.

The new prize pool adds payouts to 15 more teams and provides a solid payout to the top teams. We already have the highest league prizes in the industry for a $350 league with 1st place winning 4 times their entry fee and second place earning 2 times their entry fee. Nobody else pays $2,100 per league at this price level and thus we felt keeping that intact made sense. Going forward, we hope to continue to grow this format and continue to grow the overall prize pool. Beating 947 other teams for a $60,000 grand prize won't be easy, but the reward will be well worth it. Good luck all and look for the updated prize grid soon.

Here is the new prize structure:

Zach,

We blew past our goal of 600 teams in the NFFC 12-Team Online Championship, so we need to update the prize grid on this page:

I understand how the playoffs in this format works, with the H2H winner and the highest total points making the championship round. Can someone explain how the consolation round works? To this point I've only done satellite leagues for football.

11th place in the overall pays the same as 10th place in the consolation? IMO that is not logical.

Mike Anyone who doesn't make the Championship Round goes into the Consolation Round. You take your weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-13 into the playoffs and add that score to your totals in Weeks 14, 15 and 16. Top scoring team wins the top Consolation Round prize.

Yeah, while neither is a big payout, it does return your entry fee for finishing strong in the post-season. 11th through 20th get that in the Championship Round among 160 or so teams. 10th in the Consolation Round gets the same prize among 780 or so teams. The odds of finishing 10th or higher in the Consolation Round is certainly lower than finishing 20th in the Championship Round. I'm not trying to favor one post-season area over another as most of the extra prize money went right into the Championship Round, but ignoring the 780+ teams in the Consolation Round would have been foolish. We want everyone to have a reason to play through 16 weeks of the NFFC season and I think we've done that with this prize structure.
