Yeah I didn't hear about the whole switch thing till just now. I am a father and would never use that method for discipline. AP has known about this for weeks and appears unworried about it. For whatever its worth his Father disciplined him the same way. I guess how much injury inflicted is what's important here.

Beyond ridiculous ... a couple marks from spanking. As a kid I had worse injuries almost every week from playing sports.

A couple of marks from spanking? I think beating a little kid with a branch until there are open wounds is a little different than spanking. I had worse injuries too playing sports but they were not intentional nor inflicted from anger.
I got spanked and whipped with my fathers belt occasionally......and I never learned anything from it.

Of course, now when I see someone wearing a belt, I start running.......but that's not strange
