Although it's not official yet, John Pausma of Tinley Park, Illinois is the 2014 NFFC Primetime champion and the winner of the $150,000 grand prize. However, he holds less than a 1-point lead over Robert Zarzycki, so we have to wait for Elias scoring changes to be official by Thursday night before making it official. You never know with Elias.
In what was the closest race in NFFC history, Pausma edged Z-Man by 0.79 points to win the $150,000 grand prize. John is a longtime member of the NFFC and he usually drafts in Chicago for baseball and football. This year he decided to join us in Las Vegas for the first time and he drafted twice at the Bellagio in our 12-team Main Event. His Sept. 4th, 9 am PT Primetime team finished with the most points, but he needed a league playoff in Weeks 14-16 to win the league title and the $6,500 league prize.
Pausma entered Week 16 in 3rd place overall, more than 32 points behind the leader, Glenn Lowy. But Pausma scored 169.40 points in Week 16 (7th best) to pass Lowy and Zarzycki for the title. John entered the NFFC Primetime Championship Round in 9th place after the regular season and then put up point totals of 204.05 (19th), 187.25 (2nd) and 169.40 (7th) for a winning total of 717.57. Nice job John.
It should also be noted that John Pausma was our 2010 NFFC Online Championship winner, earning the $50,000 top prize that year. John becomes the first two-time national champion in the NFFC in different contests. Nobody in our history has ever repeated as national champion in any of our contests.
Z-Man went undefeated during the regular season and put up the third highest point total in Week 16 (182.55), but it just wasn't enough to win the grand prize. Well, unless Elias makes a scoring change to benefit his team, that is. Anyway, great season by Z for sure.
Heading into Monday Night, Glenn Lowy may have had the best chance to win the overall title. His Glenneration X team led throughout much of the Championship Round and he could have gone into the lead on Sunday night, but Steven Hauschka missed three field goals of around 50 yards that easily could have added 15 points to his total. But he still had A.J. Green going on Monday night and he needed just 7.49 points to pass Pausma for the lead. But Green suffered an arm bruise on the team's first possession and didn't catch a single pass the whole game, leaving Lowy in 3rd place overall with only 129.6 points in Week 16. Great season nonetheless Glenn and sorry about the bad beat. Ty Raja finished 4th, while Jared Danielsen finished 5th.
Congrats to all of our great owners who made it to the Championship Round. The Primetime finish was one of the most memorable and incredible finishes in NFFC history. Congrats to John Pausma, our newest NFFC Primetime champion!! Heck, he's even a devoted Packers fan, so he must be a great man, right? Enjoy the winnings everyone and we'll do it all again in another 8 months or so.

Re: John Pausma Wins 2014 NFFC Primetime & $150,000
It was a pretty wild chain of events I must say. Sometimes perfect storms of bad luck occur happen at the worst times! U mention the Hauschka missed field goals, but I look even further at Demarco Murray. If Murray remains a true gametime decision, then I believe Glenn would have started Torrey Smith in the early game to make sure he didn't get a zero from Murray if he couldn't go...then just sub in Tre Mason for Murray in the 4:25 game. Torrey Smith would have barely put Glenn back on top even with the zero from AJ Green, but the Murray Probable status changed everything. And for me...if Stafford can even have what most QBs average in plum matchup against Bears near worst in the league pass defense..like 2 TDS instead of 2 INTS .I'd have had legit shot at the championship...UGH! lol

Re: John Pausma Wins 2014 NFFC Primetime & $150,000
Thanks for kind words Greg and TR. While I'll admit to currently believing that Hauschka and AJ Green are spawns of the devil (and Andrew Luck as well for that matter), I play the game a little better and Hauschka and AJ Green become irrelevant. For instance TR, I had Torrey in for Mason earlier in the week and switched them up. Keep Torrey in and I take the crown. I made a similar mistake the previous week involving Decker that cost me 15 points. Fact is, I finished where I deserved.
John played perfectly, outplayed me, and is a great champion and class act. Congrats John.
Amazing team, amazing finish, great Champ.
