Crazy. He was among the group of QBs I was prepared to pay $15 to get. I figured he'd go closer to $10 which is where I think Cam went. Never thought he'd go under that.

With the high $$ spent on the first 48 RB and WR, there were obviously going to be some bargains later in the draft. I've done 3 auction DC's this year and had Romo projected in the $12-$13 range.

That's where I thought he'd go. I would've gone up to $15 if he was the last of the QBs I wanted and I needed to fill the position. But $12-$13 is a solid price for Romo. $7 is nuts.

Greg Ambrosius wrote:The hell with all of you guys who bid me up on all the Packers I wanted, especially Tom!! I kept looking for the bargains to come and they never did. Plus Steimetz kept holding onto his money, so there were no bargains at the end, either. The whole thing was a disaster and I deserve the punishment that I'll get this year.

Yeah, everyone is saying how much they love their teams. Screw that. I HATE THIS TEAM!! Maybe reverse psychology will work on this team.

I went in hoping to get one of the top 4 RB's and then a low-end WR1, kind of like I was drafting from the 3rd spot in a 12-team draft. I even threw out OBJ first to gauge the price structure and when he went for $38 I thought it would be a good night. But that was the last WR bargain for the next three hours, that's for sure. Everyone went for higher prices than I expected after that and I either had to pay or go home. I spent too much early and basically left without a third round pick. My bad. Cobb at $41 isn't a homer pick; I wanted any number of WR1s before that but kept dropping out at $39 and with Cobb as the last of the elite tier I overpaid or would have missed out completely. No good either way.

The WR2 and RB2 values were much higher than expected and I think we all struggled to fill those spots at affordable prices. I eventually gave up on RB2s and tried to load up on a lot of WR3s, hoping for the best. We'll see if it's enough, but it will be tough.

It was an enjoyable battle, however, and it was a fantastic group of owners. Kudos to the RT Sports auction site because it's easy to use and very reliable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do online auctions this year. I got caught several times bidding +$1 right after an owner umped the bid by several dollars and it cost me a QB I wasn't targeting as I was patiently waiting for Romo, who later went for $7.

But all good fun. NO chance for this team, but maybe we'll do another one of these later this off-season. Thanks all.

Greg's Team
QB - Cam Newton $10
QB - Carson Palmer $2

RB - Jamaal Charles $38
RB - Rashad Jennings $7
RB - Darren McFadden $11
RB - Steven Ridley $1
RB - Matt Asiata $1
RB - Zac Stacy $1

WR - Randall Cobb $41
WR - Brandon Marshall $20
WR - Jeremy Maclin $15
WR - Vincent Jackson $17
WR - Pierre Garcon $9
WR - Dorial Beckham-Green $2

TE - Zach Ertz $10
TE - Vernon Davis $2

K - Mason Crosby $2
K - Graham Gano $1
D - Seattle $3
Greg I wouldn't sell this team short, you have as much of a chance as anyone. A big three of Cam - Charles - Cobb is a hell of a starting point as I for one think that Cam rebounds in a big way this year. Remember that he was hurt a good portion of 2014, this year he goes into the season completely healthy. The last 5-6 weeks of the season last year he had some good numbers

it's all about when these players are brought out.. it's clear from this one, you should have just bought your 2 stud WR's right off the bat.. by the time people realize there are none left it's too late. I lost out on a few guys, but I never come out of these auctions with any type of depth.. if you have depth, guess what . your players are mid tier guys. it's simple.. if I get one good RB and 3 good Wr's and do ok at QB.. im happy.. the rest is won in FAAB. mike w

qb: Big Ben
rb: AP
RB: j> randall.
WR: DThomas
WR: B Cook
WR: S. Watkins
Flex: Mike Floyd or Decker
TE: Julius Thomas
DEF : Doesn't matter
Kicker : Doesn't matter

obviously Cook has to hit for me.. if he does this team will compete. if not will be long road.
Bring it on .

I have finally been able to get back to normal after being on the road for work. Nothing like an enjoyable draft from the hotel to break things up. This draft was one of the more enjoyable ones I've had in recent memory. Great group of folks. First off, thanks to Andy for setting this up and rolling with it until the end. The banter between owners and watching Greg/ Tom's reactions made this one alot of fun. Conversing via text with my good pal Sack about football and the draft made it even better. As others have mentioned, the money was flying heavy and often. Many including myself had no choice, but to overpay to avoid a tier-drop. I've never been a big pay-for-QB guy, but after missing out on the higher end positional players, I decided to grab Luck. Hilton was higher than I wanted for sure, but with no WR's yet rostered, the drop off was too high for me. I'm ok, but not overly thrilled with the outcome. Assuming regulars perform will help if... Gurley is healthy, Crabtree can play inspired football and the Arizona QB is Carson Palmer and only Palmer.

QB
Luck $38
Griffin $1

RB
Forsett $32
Ellington $26
Gurley $11
Crowell $3
Taliaferro $1
West $1

WR
Hilton $38
Tate $21
Fitzgerald $11
J. Brown $4
Crabtree $3
J. Hunter $1
Sanu $1

TE
Witten $4
Clay $1

K - Bryant
DEF - Denver

QB...Stafford, Bridgewater
RB...Spiller, Morris, Yeldon, Vereen, TRichardson
WR..Evans, KBenjamin, JMatthews, KWhite, Stills, Hardy, Huff
TE...JHill, Ebron, Seferian-Jenkins
K...Gostkowski, Hauschka
D...Arizona

I'd say solid, not spectacular. Obviously I don't have a 1st-round-pick kind of guy, but I think I have many guys with upside
We shall see

After Beckham went for $38 to kick off the auction I thought for sure this group of WRs would go for around $25. Crazy that Hopkins and Cooks went for what they did - and I like both guys a lot. But only a couple bucks less than guys like Dez and ODB? Wow.
The more I look at the auction board and see things like this... getting Andre Johnson and Julian Edleman for 22 each was big. I think my biggest overpay was M. Bryant at 21... Interesting upside though.

The steals of the draft were just the reasonable bids at the front of the draft..... antonio, odell, and the like. The guys who got them must have been laughing in the end.

eh, these $1-$5 "good deals" aren't really that important in the long run. we're not going to know who the really good deals are for a while.
