I personally don't have much issue with the NE penalty (repeat offenders) other than the 1st rounder seems a little harsh. 1,000,000 is a drop in the bucket for them.

Re: Make Your Prediction: Brady's Suspension Appeal
So Brady is asked for his phone. Instead of taking that opportunity to clear his name finally and possible get an apology from the NFl and maybe get Goodell fired, he says no, then immediately after the request destroys the phone the he used in that time frame?
Umm OK. I see an innocent guy there ..sure

If Goodell had a shred of self-awareness to realize just how much historians are going to laugh at him, he'd live the rest of his life apologizing and living under a rock. I don't like the Patriots either. But, if my Bengals can't win it all, I so want the Pats to. Then, Kraft send his equipment managers to grab the Lombardi Trophy and bring it to him, and walk away from Goodell in front of all the media. Boom!

Re: Make Your Prediction: Brady's Suspension Appeal
The NFL spent millions on a report that proved nothing. How does the league come down with a ruling of $1M, draft picks, and suspension of a star player without legitimate proof? Five months ago all the talk was about PSI and the Wells report helped show that the NFL's "testing" methods were, ummm....ridiculous. The league had major egg on it's face. In comes Goodell to once again look like a complete ass clown and uphold a bogus suspension. All while, get all the attention to shift to Brady and his unwillingness to cooperate and "destroying" of his cell phone. Goodell was getting pressure from other owners on how chummy he has become with Kraft and because Goodell is all about "power" wants to show how he can continue to execute it. He's a joke of a commissioner.
As far as Brady not handing over is phone, according to a Wells press conference, Brady was never asked to. Rather, he was asked to provide content from his phone. Who saves months worth of text messages anyway? Brady's agent stated today that Brady routinely deletes both texts and emails in case he happens to lose his phone. Brady cooperated by sitting in a room and answered questions for five hours. He also provided 7 months worth of cell phone records where they identified every number that was questioned. His agent even requested text messages from the cell phone provider but they could not produce them. This was stated in a letter from the cell phone provider and submitted as part of Brady's total "unwillingness" to cooperate. There is absolutely not substantial proof of any wrong doing on Brady's behalf. How can anyone uphold a suspension, especially one that is equivalent to the Hardy suspension.
I'm not a Pats fan. I'm not a Brady fan. And I'm definitely not a Goodell fan. I do hope that Brady and the Pats find a way to stick it to the commish and move on from this circus act. I'm ready for some damn football and whenever I turn on the radio I have to listen to this crap instead of the content I'm truly interested in.

According to George Atallah this morning, this isn't about cell phones and air pressure anymore, it's about fairness and the process or procedures the NFL took in regards to the CBA.

Re: Make Your Prediction: Brady's Suspension Appeal
The NFLPA cited the Favre suspension as I did as a comparable case to Brady's. They made the point that Favre did not cooperate with the league and was fined. Brady, however, was suspended, an unprecedented punishment in league history. Once again we have an example of Goodell making things up as he goes which is a huge reason why the NFLPA has such a problem with him and how he doles out punishment.

Atallah also said that the NFL never gave them a counter-offer to their proposal of a reduced sentence. Nothing in a reduced sentence if Brady admitted guilt or apologized or did anything. All of these reports out there that say Brady refused to admit guilt for a 1 game sentence are false, according to Atallah. Instead they just came back with the same 4 game suspension.BigBlueNation wrote:According to George Atallah this morning, this isn't about cell phones and air pressure anymore, it's about fairness and the process or procedures the NFL took in regards to the CBA.
Whatever happened, the punishment doesn't fit the crime and if you took Goodell out of the mix you could reasonably say that a fine and maybe a 1 game punishment is worthy. Nobody can agree that 4 games is right when Greg Hardy now has four games and IS APPEALING THAT!!
But the NFL already won the game of lawyers as this suit will be heard in Manhattan. The NFL lawyers held the appeal decision just long enough to be first to file in Manhattan before the NFLPA could file in Minnesota. Even Robert Kraft was amazed at how his own league worked on that front. He knows the gamesmanship is being run by lawyers. Brady has little chance of getting this overturned in Manhattan court. The NFL will eventually get their way here.
I hope a backroom deal is made and we see Brady on the field for as many games as possible this year. Goodell may think he's protecting the shield, but he's really hurting the game we all love. Sucks.

Intellegent people can spin anything anyway they want, but if Atallah's interview was the truth, I support Brady even more than I did previously.
