There are others who feel that 3RR/KDS stunts our growth. I'm more concerned with our customers having the fairest shot at the prize money and that we're paying the most money to the best team in each league. It doesn't happen every single time, but it sure does here most of the time.Sabretooth wrote:Getting rid of 3RR wouldn't kill me. Although I do like it. If greg and and Tom think it stunt's the growth of the contest then maybe they should. But doing so probably takes KDS along with it. I mean without 3RR who isn't going to want to pick at the top? But what i would not want to see is going to 4 pts per passing TD. There are 3 major companies here as everyone knows. One has 1.5 for TE's, one has 11 starters instead of 10 etc...And The NFFC has 6 pts passing Td's. All three need to have something that is a little different. We don't need a universal scoring system down to the T across the board in my opinion.
Is it time for 1/2 ppr?

I see a lot of high scoring teams under your name. Don't kid yourself.King of Queens wrote:My teams all suck...and you're still paying me!Greg Ambrosius wrote: I'm more concerned with our customers having the fairest shot at the prize money and that we're paying the most money to the best team in each league. I think if QB td's were to go back to 4pts it would further drive QB's later into the draft and that is already happening now with 6pts per Td. I just like it when the first round leaves owners with tough decisions on what position to draft for. The obvious trend has been to move away from RB's and toward WR's due to massive passing numbers/receptions.

James, you keep saying that but there are plenty of decisions in the first round. This year 4 of the first 5 picks were RBs. The first round saw 5 RBs, 6 WRs and 1 TE. Sometimes Luck snuck into the first round. There is all kinds of variance in the first round, second round and all rounds. If we see fewer RBs in the first round next year it's not because of the scoring system; it's because RBs are so unpredictable and injury-prone in today's game. But Bell, AP, Gurley and maybe even Charles will be right up there. Maybe Freeman is, too. We don't know yet. But blame the NFL, not fantasy scoring for what's going on with RBs.renman wrote:I think if QB td's were to go back to 4pts it would further drive QB's later into the draft and that is already happening now with 6pts per Td. Peterson, Bell and Gurley will be first-round picks next year in my opinion. I think all three are locks.
Freeman and Charles will be more difficult questions. Freeman based on the ability to sustain first-round type production from one season to the next (see Anderson, C.J. this year) and Charles due to durability concerns.

I know what the variances were for THIS year. I am obviously not talking about going back in time and re doing this year. And before I go further I feel the need to say I am NOT saying we need this change. I notice sometimes simply fueling dialogue on topics like this gets people upset. I am saying the trend in the NFL is toward the passing game. The trend in the NFL is toward rbbc. Given these two trends, it seems obvious we will see less RB's taken in the first round and we will see zero QB's taken since passing games are so explosive QB's are easy to find later. I know there were 5 rb's this year. How many were there in 2005 and 2010? What is the trend? The injury point you are making, in my mind, supports my point. Rb's are more injury prone so it is another reason to possibly balance out how production is valued.Greg Ambrosius wrote:James, you keep saying that but there are plenty of decisions in the first round. As for next year. Bell and Charles MAY be first rounders depending on how they come back from injury. AP may slip out of first round due to age. Gurley seems likely to be a first rounder but even he is questionable if that offense doesn't change and he doesn't get involved in passing game... and Freeman is awful small to be a workhorse back and make it through a season. Will owners invest the first pick on that RB volatility when receivers get full point ppr? I could see drafts where 2 or 3 RB's go in first round and every other pick is a receiver. If it were 1/2 pt those RBs become more valuable and maybe those first round decisions aren't so cut and dry. I simply wanted to read opinions on the topic. I wont post in the thread again unless others share opinions. Seemed like a harmless question to pose to the group.
