DeShaun Watson Is This Year's Golden Ticket FAAB Pickup

Just when we think we know everything about football, reality hits home.

DeShaun Watson is that reality ticket. Actually, he could be the GOLDEN TICKET for NFFC owners as he has been golden since taking over as the Texans' starting QB midway through Week 1. Remember, Bill O'Brien named Tom Savage as the Week 1 starter and the rookie from Clemson didn't figure to get much playing time. As a result, he wasn't drafted in all NFFC leagues.

In fact, he was drafted in only 8 of 44 NFFC Primetime leagues (19%) and in only 12 of 19 Classic leagues (37%). He was sparingly picked up in our first FAAB period AFTER he was named the Week 2 starting QB. In fact, he was still available in Week 5 in SIX Primetime leagues. Here's where he was picked up in our two national contests:

Watson trails only Carson Wentz in most points scored among QBs as he is averaging 32.1 ppg in NFFC scoring. He's also averaging 42.3 ppg over his last four games and in his six starts, he's averaging 35.9 ppg. That's good.

Why didn't we see this coming? Why were we blinded by Bill O'Brien's blind faith to Tom Savage? What lessons can we learn from our stupidity here? How many league champions will now have Watson in their lineups?

He's been crazy good. Now for the big question: Can he continue this excellent play? Hard to think not after going to Seattle and taming the 11 men on the field and the 12th Man in the stands. Amazing performance.
