Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
I like Billy's idea but I would simplify the proposed change and just give the $500 to 4th place that used to be consolation and not change anything else. That way everyone in playoffs gets something.

Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
One thing I would love to see changed is the payout structure in some of the HOF leagues.
Here’s a look at the top two money winners in each league.
Super Ultimate Diamond Platinum
1st 14,000 26,000 60,000 130,000
2nd 5,000 13,000 20,000 40,000
The biggest discrepancy seem to be the Ultimate which handicaps the winner and rewards the runner up more than any other league. I don’t understand how this prize point was come to. It should be moved to 29k with 2nd getting 10k. It makes me question joining the Ultimate every year.

Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
I have no problem looking at all of our prize payouts in the private leagues and making them better. Maybe we're too top heavy in some leagues and too balanced in others. I have no problem tweaking them (second place in your Diamond assessment isn't correct, just an FYI).TheReckoner wrote:One thing I would love to see changed is the payout structure in some of the HOF leagues.

So let's look at each:
NFFC Platinum
1st $130,000
2nd $40,000
3rd $15,000
H2H $20,000
Points $20,000
Consolation $5,000
NFFC Diamond
1st $60,000
2nd $25,000
3rd $7,000
H2H $10,000
Points $10,000
Consolation $2,000
NFFC 14-Team Ultimate
1st $30,000
2nd $15,000
3rd $7,000
H2H $5,000
Points $5,000
Consolation $1,000
NFFC 12-Team Ultimate
1st $26,000
2nd $13,000
3rd $4,000
H2H $5,000
Points $5,000
Consolation $1,000
NFFC 14-Team Super & Super Auction
1st $15,000
2nd $7,000
3rd $3,250
H2H $2,500
Points $2,500
Consolation $500
NFFC 12-Team Super
1st $14,000
2nd $5,000
3rd $2,000
H2H $2,500
Points $2,500
Consolation $500
It's probably not as consistent as it should be, and it's probably because we've added new contests at varying times. No problem if it's time to tweak some or all of these. Let's give it a look.

Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
Here’s my suggestion. It basically takes what the 2nd, 3rd and now 4th place team in the playoffs would make based on percentages against the buy in. The rest goes to the winner. I’ve used the Super leagues percentages because they are fair and really highlight the winner of the league.
Here are the payout suggestions.
Platinum
1st 130,000
2nd 40,000
3rd 16,000
4th 4,000
H2h 20,000
Pts 20,000
Diamond
1st 64,000
2nd 20,000
3rd 8,000
4th 2,000
H2h 10,000
Pts 10,000
14 Team Ultimate
1st 36,000
2nd 12,000
3rd 4,000
4th 1,000
H2h 5,000
Pts 5,000
12 team Ultimate
1st 29,000
2nd 10,000
3rd 4,000
4th 1,000
H2h 5,000
Pts 5,000
14 team Super
1st 17,250
2nd 6,000
3rd 2,000
4th 500$
H2h 2,500
Pts 2,500
12 team Super
1st 14,000
2nd 5,000
3rd 2,000
4th 500$
H2h 2,500
Pts 2,500
Every winning placement has a certain value with the only change being 14 team leagues 1st and 2nd being as close to 3 to 1 as possible. This rewards people who win the tougher 14 teamers.
12 team leagues were added up like this...
2nd place 2x buy in.
3rd place 80% of buy in.
4th place 20% of buy in.
H2h and points win back buy in.
No more consolation
After all that the winner takes the rest.
What say you all?

Any new convo about this Tom or Greg... I know a number of us are hoping a change is in the works here.
Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
I am in agreement all around. In the high stakes leagues, most of us are prioritizing teams with a shot at the playoffs. The consolation prize isn't really motivating me any more to pay attention in the regular season.76erfan wrote:I like Billy's idea but I would simplify the proposed change and just give the $500 to 4th place that used to be consolation and not change anything else. Like Billy says, a team gets hot in the wks 14 to 16 and wins the prize. While the 4th place team gets $0 for making the playoffs.
Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
I would get rid of consolation prizes in all leagues that are not National contests. I think it's a sin that a playoff team could get nothing while a team that did poorly during the year can get money.

Re: Greg, BEFORE Prizes are set......
Guys, sorry for the delayed response. I was on a two-day trip out East that turned into four days thanks to 30 inches of snow in Wisconsin and flight complications in Philadelphia. I'm finally back and will get the high-stakes leagues finalized this weekend.
We can't just change the prize structure of these leagues based on Message Board requests and posts. That's no way to change things. We need to do a deep dive into past results to see if we're really paying the wrong folks. I plan on doing that today. And I agree that we need to make sure all of the high-stakes leagues are paying at consistent levels. That part is much easier to change and will be updated by Monday.
Our intention is to launch with the same playoff formats for these leagues and the same league structures. Whether we pay the 1/5th of entry fee prize to fourth place or Consolation is something we can address through an email survey or direct talks with the participants. If there's any league that has a unanimous approval of switching the prize structure before the start of the season, we'll coordinate that for that league. But at this point we are going to launch these contests with Top 3 prizes and Consolation Rounds, while talking with every league to get feedback on the prize structure. That will give us the best information for any potential changes within that league this year and definitely for any potential changes in 2019. Thanks.
