Thanks for posting this Wayne and keep adding if you'd like. Greg and I will go over the first two rounds on our Sirius show tonight. I don't remember ever seeing this many QBs go in the first two rounds of this draft before. Even taking the DC format into account that is still really wild.

Wayne, the site is going live today, so send the list of owners, draft order and spreadsheet to us and we'll get this league set up. We can enter the picks and folks can see the available players in the draft room. Just email us and we'll get it done shortly. Thanks.

I was a bit shocked to see 6 QB's go in the second round. There is always that fear of not taking a QB and the pool drying up by the time it comes back around to your end of the draft. If you look at this year's draft verses 2019 it shapes up like this:

Round 1 - 1 QB in 2019 and 0 in 2020
Round 2 - 0 in 2019 verses 6 in 2020
Round 3 - 4 in 2019 verses 1 in 2020.

Through 3 rounds then we have 2 more selected this year verses 2019.

Round 4 - 7 in 2019 verses 5 in 2020.
Round 5 - 6 in 2019 verses 5 in 2020.
Round 6 - 4 in 2019 verses 3 in 2020.

So now through 6 rounds there were 19 taken in 2019 verses 20 taken in 2020. It's pretty close. The main difference was just that top tier going a bit earlier this year. My guess is that we will a couple more QB's being considered in the early rounds than last year since we have 2 huge stud QB's in Mahomes and Lamar as well as DeShaun and Russell having an advantage over those who might go a bit later.

Seeing I contributed to the unusual QB mini-run in round 2 by picking Dak as QB5 at 2.13, I'll explain my rationale (right or wrong):
  • Owner, Jerry Jones, knows that DAL's window to make a run is now. I'm gambling that the Cowboys give Dak a new contract and either franchise or transition tag Cooper.
  • Last year, Dak finished as QB2, a full PPG ahead of Wilson and .9 ahead of Watson and Mahomes.
    • In 2018, after DAL traded for Cooper, Dak was the QB4 through the remaining nine games.
  • In a best ball [DC] league, I'm looking for upside games more than consistency. Comparing Dak to Wilson and Watson (who went QB3/4):
    • Wilson averaged 27 PPG with median 24.75, Watson averaged 28.8 with median 33, Dak averaged 28 with median 29.5.
    • Wilson had five games of 30+ (including three 40+), Watson nine games of 30+(two 40+), and Dak eight games of 30+ (three 40+).
  • Even though it turned out that Matt Ryan ended up being the only other QB taken before my next pick at 3.13, I doubt Dak would've made it to me there, and I wanted him more than Rodgers, Brees, Allen, Wentz, Winston, etc.
  • At 2.13, it felt like we'd just finished a RB tier with Fournette, and were now at Ekeler, Bell, Drake.
    • I suspected Gurley or Gordon would make it to me at the 3/4 turn, and I was fine with either of them as my RB2 (behind Saquon).
  • In today's pass-happy NFL, it doesn't seem as necessary to have an alpha-stud WR1 in best ball leagues. So I came into this draft looking to wait on WR.
    • I also thought WRs Allen, ARob or OBJ would make it to me at the 3/4 turn. Allen and ARob went the two picks before me, and OBJ made it to me. I'm thinking we just saw OBJ's absolute floor this year (WR25); so taking him as WR16 felt right for me.
Of course, I was fortunate that some of the RBs and WRs I was targeting actually made it to me at the 3/4 turn. Had they been taken before that, then I could've easily ended up with RB Singletary/Carson and WR Boyd/JuJu. But I was lucky (at least IMO for now; we shall see) to instead get OBJ and Gurley.

Everyone is registered on our site for the 2020 NFFC Trendsetters League and the first 6 rounds have been entered. The draft has also been paused. Enjoy the second phase of picks and I'll enter them as I see them on the Google doc. Thanks all.

Here is my team from the 13 spot after 6 rounds.....
1 Davante Adams Wr
2 Patrick mahomes Qb
3 Austin Ekeler Rb
4 Chris carson Rb
5 Dj Chark Wr
6 Phillip Lindsay Rb

It is normally not my style to go Qb this early but I like mahomes and I like that it means I can ignore the Qb run when it comes. And I did.
i was able to still build a 3 back lineup as well as remain overall balanced. My 5th and 6th rounds picks were particulary tough. I have high hopes for this team it's and I still have a lot of work to do.
