Agree 100%. Rewarding teams that did not make the playoffs makes no sense at all

Hi Greg,

Thanks for updating the $1600 auction.

Just an FYI.....the updated primetime payouts are not updated on the Primetime Contest Prize Pages as well.

Also, can we have a discussion about eliminating ALL consolation prizes for any isolated league AND allocating those dollars to 4th place (all auctions, all high stakes $2500+)? It makes absolutely no sense rewarding someone who didn't make the playoffs and not rewarding 4th place (someone who DID make the playoffs).

Thanks......Billy
Thanks for the catch Billy. We updated the Primetime overall prizes, but we must have missed the new Primetime league prizes on the Contest page. Totally our fault. It should be:

1st - $7,400
2nd - $3,600
3rd - $1,200

It is now updated. As for the Consolation Round prizes, it allows all 12 teams to still compete through the year for something. You and others have said that we need to find ways to make sure people always set their starting lineups through the whole season and to keep competing. But with no Consolation Round prize, people could honestly give up halfway through the season as they have no chance of getting into the Championship Round via H2H record or total points.

At least with a Consolation Round prize, they can keep competing for a good weekly scoring average, get hot in the Consolation Round and win "something." There is no reason to ever stop competing and setting your best starting lineup every week when you still have something to play for. I understand the frustration of rewarding the 5th best team in the league but not the 4th best team, but honestly it's more about giving all 12 owners an incentive to continue competing each and every week for the betterment of the league.

Now if a private league doesn't want that, we'll switch the prizes. In the New York Super League, you guys don't feel a need to incentivize every owner because you know they won't stop competing. In that case, we have awarded 4th place in the Championship Round and have eliminated the Consolation Round prize. Same thing in the Las Vegas 14-Team Super Auction League. If there are other private leagues where people want us to change that payout process, we'll do it.

But please understand that the idea is to keep everyone incentivized and to keep everyone competing each and every week. I know you want that. I know Frank wants that. I know we all want that. So that's the purpose of the Consolation Round prize, but if requested by enough owners in private leagues we will definitely switch those payouts. Make sense? Thanks for the catch on the Primetime prizes and good luck this season in all your leagues.

While I see your position on "keeping people active", that is RARELY a problem in these contained leagues that honestly have your most loyal customers who spend the most money with the NFFC. Sure....we see it from time to time in the Primetime, etc. but in these contained leagues, it is mainly your diehards playing who hate to lose, and will fight to the end.

And your point of someone "giving up" and then make some additional cash even though they haven't fixed a lineup in weeks all because they had "hot players" for 3 weeks.......is a slap in the face to the guy who may have tied for best record, was 5-10 points away from most points, and then had a rough 3 weeks and gets NOTHING.

It just doesn't make any sense to me (or why it is only in the $1600 auction, but not the $2500 and $5000 auctions???)

I would poll your high stakes players about this, and if that is what the majority wants, I will live with it. I just don't think people pay too much mind to it, until they make the playoffs, have a rough 3 weeks and get nothing (while the team who was 10th in points for the regular season walks away with extra cash).

Thanks......Billy
