LT2 and Westy -- How the Mighty Have Fallen

Post by King of Queens » Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:34 am

The Chargers waived LaDainian Tomlinson yesterday, and the Eagles today announced that Brian Westbrook would be cut. To be certain, neither of these moves is particularly shocking. However, it is amazing that two of the consensus top three picks -- FROM LESS THAN 18 MONTHS AGO -- are currently without NFL jobs.

Maybe it's just surprising because I am knee-deep in baseball prep, but has there ever been a quicker fall from grace for Top 3 players?

Football is by far the coldest sport when it comes to the cutting of ties with team legends.

LT & Westbrook....no fairwell tours, no team sponsered retirement press conferences with owner, GM, & coach accolades, not even a gold watch....just a pink slip and a don't let the door hitcha in the ass on your way out.

I wonder if there's a team that would be willing to roll the dice and sign BOTH of these guys at teir new discounted salaries?

Bring these guys to Tampa and add a half way decent QB, and it may give Tampa a larger fanbase like the days of Montana and Marcus Allen to the Chiefs.
