The Multi-City Live Event Discussion

Tom, I know I am in the minority....One that has to fly in order to attend any live event, but my initial reaction to this is...

Should of went to Vegas, based on the signups in Bosten. But still prefer NY (manhatten not Citifield) over Vegas.

Key for the event in my opinion is the electricity felt with 100plus owners, and a destination city with plenty to do around the event weekend.

NY and Vegas are my Top 2. A couple of suggestions to keep in mind is: What about a Golfing event or ....(ahhhhhh) something for our better halves to enjoy. (NY) I hope you get where i was going.

It would be nice if we could do something beyond the drafts themselves. We are doing that in New York this year with the Mets tickets but we certainly would be receptive to additional ways to make this even more of a fun event for those who attend.

I think a golfing event on Friday or Sunday for the owners could open up an opportunity for a city (the South) that is not on your list. Alot of nice courses around and the event could be held in the clubhouse of the hosting course. That could cut down on costs and most have a resort hotel or two within walking distance.

Just a suggestion,

Maybe FL would be a better venue for the baseball draft, cuz it's in the winter? Who wants to go to hot-as-hell FL in the summer?

What about Harrahs Chester Casino and racetrack it is right of 95 about 10 minutes from the Philly airport with live horse racing and slots and table games it has a 14,000 sq ft of meeting space for conventions.

As everyone has stated and I agree...nothing compares to the Live Draft and that is unanimous.

I am very disappointed to be drafting online this year again and feel that there was a huge oversight when looking at Regions. The entire Southeast Region was omitted from any live venue while other regions crammed as many as three locations within 200 miles.

Ok, who was sleeping in their High School Geography Class? Were talking NOTHING with in 1,000 plus miles of the Southeast!

Saying Florida was a bust is not completely true. Sure it was not ultra successful however both Tampa and Orlando did post multiple leagues.

I am not saying come back to Florida but lets get something in the Southeast region guys.

Atlanta has one of the biggest Airports in the USA and there are very cheap flights from everywhere in this region and the travel time (1 hour) is also a huge bonus.

Here are some thoughts from a five year NFFC player that may reflect current and new players decisions to participate in Live Drafts.

The Labor Day Holiday Weekend creates a real strain on the Family. Simply said, there are a lot of people that cannot commit to 2 or more days of travel and participation due to other family commitments for this holiday. "Happy Wife...Happy Life" No disrespect intended Jules…Husband does not rhyme..lol! The Draft Date can never change however with regional locations, players that want to participate, can hit a double header by flying in and out the same day or the night before and return the night after the Draft. I really think this is a bigger detriment to participation then you may consider it is.

The amount of emphasis on the Draft Venue itself, while being an ultra cool touch, it is not a deciding factor for some people. Maybe I am just a diehard Fantasy player, but to me the NFFC Live Draft is the draw not the venue. I would be just as motivated to draft in Tom or Greg’s Basement as I would be to draft trackside at Arlington. Personally I feel that some of the Glamour and Glitz of the Venues and Host Cities is nothing more then a distraction to the business at hand. I have been fortunate to spend a tremendous amount of time in Las Vegas, so it is not a draw to me, however I have given it a lot of thought the last two years just for the fact that I can count on a large amount of the Players being Hung Over and Travel Weary which means they would not be very sharp at the draft and that would be a huge advantage to me. The camaraderie among players is a big bonus of the Live Draft and the Live Draft Event itself has no Equal. All I am saying is that I go to Draft, not to go to a Casino or sample the local Ballet.

I applaud Greg and Tom for their efforts this year in coming up with some really great Promotions and Venues. I am not suggesting that you eliminate the Glamour and Glitz by no means, I would just like to recommend more attention next year to the basics (Affordability of Travel, Travel Time, Access) that would help the growth of the NFFC. Face it, once you attend an NFFC LIVE DRAFT you are hooked for life !!

Sincerely Dirty,
Deeds

I went up to Harrah's Chester about 3 years ago, and was not all that impressed. It was kinda in the middle of nowhere (maybe because it was the ONLY casino, not like Vegas or AC), it didn't have table games (that probably has changed), and I wasn't a fan of paying for my drinks while I gambled. :(

I actually hit a $1,800+ payday, so I was good with that :D , but other than that.....not real impressed.
