Week 1 Preseason Thoughts

Post by Tom Kessenich » Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:30 am

Glenn, I agree it's important not to over-react to things that happen in the preseason. However, when a terrible player (like Orton) plays terribly, I'm not sure that should be ignored if one was inclined to believe he wasn't going to be a terrible player any longer.

With regard to Fred Taylor, I watched him last season and he looked done to me. I don't think he'll add a lot to the Patriots' offense this season. I thought Morris played well when given a chance to start last season and I still believe he and Faulk are the team's best RBs and will be their most productive RBs this season.

Like I had said before, I'm not concerned about the 3 picks because he needs to get comfortable in a complicated offense and with time Orton will get comfortable with where his receivers will be.

But, please continue to hate on him.

I agree it was his first game with a new team in a new system with a new head coach. The kicker is he looked just like he did before.

I'll provide some comments here about the Packers-Browns game. Quinn starting for Cleveland but no Harris or Woodson for the Packers in the secondary.

Did the Browns recruit players at the game to play WR? Maybe we will see Greg do some "button hooks" and "posts"???

Some early thoughts on the Packers-Browns game:

Grant with a great run on his third carry.

Rodgers made a fine adjustment on his long TD throw to Driver (don't sleep on Driver people, I'm tellin ya).

James Jones working as the No. 3 WR.

Well the only "posts" Greg should be doing is on this MB...

I think if preseason matters then Caleb Hanie is an All-Pro!

I think Nathan Vasher couldn't guard his lunch!

I think (I know) Kyle Orton does suck atleast as bad as Tom thinks he does, maybe worse!

I think its funny when fantasy sites dog a player like Hightower and then after he goes 6-24 they sing his praises and says he's underrated! Too funny!

I think the announcers are also in preseason form...

And lastly, I think if the Bills run this no huddle against the Pats, the Pats could establish a new single game scoring record!!!

Packers' defense didn't look very good on the first drive. Quinn made some third-down plays to keep a drive going which ended with a missed FG.

Jamal Lewis looks old.

No targets for Edwards. Mike Furrey very active as the No. 3 WR. Robiskie might have fallen to fourth on the depth chart.
