Draft position advantage w/ twist

Gekko,

I agree that the auction draft is the best system and I personally think its far better then the serpentine draft ... but the NFFC had trouble filling in our league in Chicago Auction league this year. This system will continue to become more popular … but for now … both an auction draft and an auction for draft spots is too complicated from a mass appeal stand point and will intimidate some newbie’s. Would you risk turning people away from the main NFFC event with a complicated auction of draft spots if you were in charge when the other method, with its faults, is clearly an accepted method?

Instead of trying to turn the serpentine draft into an auction draft or an auction for draft spots draft … which are both clearly better solutions to the straight serpentine draft but are obviously too complicated for “the masses”. Why not take a fresh look at improving the serpentine draft.

Restated proposal: You get the first draft pick for rounds one and two. Then you get the last draft pick for rounds three though 20. I get the 14th pick for rounds 1 and 2 then I get the 1st pick for rounds 3 through 20. Tom gets the 3rd pick for two rounds … then he gets the 12th pick for the rest of the draft. It’s simple … more fair … the argument that the first pick is screwed is not valid because it’s no different than the current 14th pick (except the #14 pick would get the first pick in rounds 1 and 2 under this system) … how is that screwed … unless screwed means no “premium draft spots”?

Gekko … I singled you out because you seem to be bright but very argumentative … I think you are trying to change too much with auction idea. I would really like to see improve the serpentine draft for next year and I think if I can get you (my biggest challenge) and others on the same page with me (although this was clearly a variation of JerseyPaul’s idea) … Tom might actually consider a simple change to the serpentine draft that makes the draft a little more fair for all … but also easy to understand. I am not looking for perfection … just real attainable improvement. Do we really want some change or are we just bitching?

My four cents

A post explaining why you aren't posting and how you feel about not posting. Absolutely the funniest thing I have ever read in here. Bravo. And just in case you are as soft as you seem, the preposition following "laughing" is "at", not "with." Thanks for the laugh and the nice donation this year.

... by the way ... sorry if I offended any real English Major's by that last comment ... not my intent.

[/QUOTE]Uh... all politically correct English Majors and anyone else particularly over-sensitive should simply go to hell.

That's my opinion. Life is too much fun to worry about dangling modifiers.

DyvWell said, Dyv. You should have been the Pres and GG should have been the VP as he is too controversial and argumentative to be Pres, but like Cheney, good brains behind the scenes.
