I know how much you guys and gals like draft results, so I'll provide another glimpse of an industry draft that was held yesterday. Special thanks to Dave Richard for inviting me to participate, and oh, thanks for the 12th pick!!! Hansen, Caplan and Erickson get favorable picks and ol' industry reliable gets No. 12. Nice!!!
Seriously, it was a unique draft that Dave will feature on the CBS Sportsline.com site very soon. Look for it because the league covers a lot of areas for fantasy die-hards. For one thing, this was a 29-round draft as we start 19 players each week: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 ST, 3 LBs, 3 DBs, 2 DL, 1 D Flex. The scoring also included one point per reception and six points for all TDs, including passing TDs. So there was a mix of everything for everyone.
Here's a look at the first four rounds and then I'll post my team:

Since I was sitting in the 12th spot in this draft, I want to discuss 3RR here. During the draft, I also did a live interview with Jeff Erickson of Rotowire.com on XM Radio and I was lamenting the fact that 3RR wasn't used in this league. After drafting Reggie Bush and Rudi Johnson in this scoring format, I felt like I had two solid RBs as a foundation. I was hoping to add a stud WR and 3RR would have made that possible. So I was whining on the radio.
But then lo and behold Larry Fitzgerald falls to me at 36 and in fact for my first pick in the fourth round I had a choice between Javon Walker and Houshmandzadeh. I was ecstatic to have my choice of those three guys and I was going to take Walker but I think Housh will get more receptions and maybe even more TDs and went with him. I was ecstatic with my first four picks.
In this case, 3RR probably would have hurt me. I would have taken Terrell Owens with my first pick of the third round in 3RR, but then in the fourth round I would have been left with Plaxico Burress or maybe DeAngelo Williams. It wouldn't have been a better team.
Interesting indeed. Thoughts?

Here's another interesting thought after I did this league: If you had to set KDS for a 12-team straight serpentine league, what would it be? Would you set it any differently than 1 through 12? Would the bottom be preferred over the middle?
I'll admit that I wasn't thrilled with the 12th pick, but at that spot you know you're going to get two pretty good backs and then you just have to hope that a franchise WR is still around in Round 3. I will admit that there seemed to be a huge dropoff in talent at the end of round 5 from the beginning and then after that it got wild with all of the defensive players being selected. But the end really wasn't a death knell.

what would you personally have done if the 3rr was implemented...still go RB RB
and also your Defensive players are real solid, lot of potential excitement there..

Terp Who would you have taken instead of Rudi at 13? Chad Johnson? Jones-Drew? McGahee? I don't mind Rudi at 13, but I can understand your feelings.
With 3RR, I still would have gone RB, RB. Maybe Bush-Chad Johnson, but I doubt it. I definitely felt a top WR would be there at pick 25, that's for sure.
In the WCOFF format, bottom of the draft doesn't look so bad as I like the top 40 or so picks. I guess in our 3RR, that means the top spot is still getting a solid pick at 42 and again at 43. It's going to be a fun, fun contest season in a few months.

Bush, imo, is a steal at 12 in a PPR League. No question Rudi is "Mr. Consistency", but in a PPR League he probably isn't a home run. I would have gone with whomever you have rated as the #1 WR. Biggest surprise to me is; 4 rounds, 25 RB's...no Caddy??

So then would you have still taken Fitzgerald and Housh in 3 and 4? See, I definitely feel the WRs fell to me in those rounds and I was glad to have two solid RBs at that point.
Caddy? He almost fell to me at 5, which would have sealed the deal. Caddilac Williams went 57th, three spots ahead of my fifth pick. Amazing how he fell. Fred Taylor went 59th and I took Dunn at 60.

Greg I think you did very well, but the players on these boards would eat those writers for lunch.
?Carson Palmer in the 2nd
?Donovan McNabb in the 3rd (ahead of Brees AND Brady)
Those two silly picks pushed Fitz and Housh to you at the 3/4 turn - otherwise your choices would not have been as nice.
Not sure that the first drafter wasn't panicking about the loss of RB2 (which he shouldn't with LT), but I think his team would have been stronger with
Tomlinson, Wayne and Owens, instead of
Tomlinson, Jacobs and Wayne
Are you guys playing this out?

Wow, how the mighty have fallen...57th?? I would have no problem with the 2 WR's at 3 and 4. And assuming the #1 WR scores 300 points and Rudi scores his "normal" 230-235; you would need a RB in the 5th that scores about 160 points to breakeven on the Rudi for WR #1 swap. Anything above 160-165 you come out ahead.
Your starters probably will be:
RB's: Bush, Rudi, Dunn or Taylor
WR's: Fitz, TJ, Edwards
Revised lineup Starters:
RB's: Bush, Dunn or Taylor
WR's: WR#1, Fitz, TJ, Edwards
The difference in the 2 lineups is you will be starting Rudi instead of WR#1, which could equal about 60 - 70 points over the course of the season. Of course, at least one trade off is you would lose depth at RB and a little lineup flexibility. But personally, I would like the revised lineup a little better and sacrifice the RB depth and flexibility. But, either way, I like your team, although I don't have a clue about IDP, so that part could be really good or not so good. Edwards as a #3 is great; as a #4.... CHAMPIONSHIP!!
