18 Game Schedule

Larry,

I heard that they might start one week earlier and then extend the season 2 weeks out. I'm not sure if that is factual - just what I saw somewhere.

It could really get ugly towards the end of the year. Just a concern.

Wayne I was what many consider "out of it" two weeks ago in Primetime (2-7 and 8th in points)....dropped a 206, and am now in the mix for 2nd most points and a playoff berth.

Lesson.....you are NEVER out of it.

No matter what the setup, you are still gonna have the complainers about people giving up.

So here's an idea that would solve multiple problems - make the 'all play' weeks the ones at the end of the season. That way if any teams do fail to set rosters or work hard on their lineups it affects all teams equally pro or con.

Greg, as Russ noted above - in year one it seems prudent to make the schedule 18 weeks 'just in case' - and if it turns out to be a non issue then simply expand it for year 2 of the 18 game schedule.

From a biz perspective - why not make it 18 weeks then run a bonus contest for $100 and $5k grand prize of pick'em for weeks 19 and 20 - put a little extra bling in fanballs pocket and toss around a few extra late season dollars to keep the game fun even for those out of it ;)

From the NFL side of it, has anyone heard how the they (NFL) plan to add the two additional games??

As it stands right now each teams schedule consists of the following....

2 games against each team in division (6)

1 game against another division IN conference (4)

1 game against another division IN OTHER conference (4)

1 game against a team in two remaining divisions in conference based on previous year finish (ex. 3rd place in division, plays 3rd place in other 2 divisions) (2)

Was just curious if anyone heard anything?

Same here. At first, it sounded like a good idea, but then I realized if you're in a battle for 1st in W-L it's easy to track how your competition's game is going, but with "all play" it would be difficult, at best, to track your opponent. Not to mention it's difficult to know how your own game is going. And, as Blakhand says, it would be less likely any of the top teams would lose.

maybe a 15 team league which would give you a 14 week season then a three week playoff. keep the rule of the top 10% as a wild card entry for the championship round. not using week 18-20 might not be a bad idea as teams might rest players that lock up division and wild card spots early. games scores might go down with the extra team going to 15 teams but keeping a good thing the nffc has might not be bad. during weeks 18-20 the nffc can maybe build the playoff draft to a high stakes one and keep interest up that way.

Gotta be 12, 14, or 16.

Honestly, does anyone depend on the last couple weeks' matchups vs. leaguemates to get them an extra loss on an opponent?

We're talking about playing the same teams, the only difference is if you do it in week 3 instead of week 18 you eliminate any chance of someone getting a cupcake matchup and stealing the H2H title for playing a dead team.

To me this massive positive (someone earning a H2H $2500 instead of being gifted it) far outweighs the value of rooting for your enemies' opponent deep into the season?
