Don't they officially have to file for bankruptcy?? kevin - my heart goes out to you. you are one of the best baseball players around, and i hope you get every penny you EARNED.

as for wcoff "having" to do anything, i wouldn't put anything past them.

i'm not sure how much you are owed, but i'm guessing it's a lot. IF it were me, i'd:
1. find an attorney specializing in contracts who will discuss your situation for FREE
2. find out all your legal options

worst case is that you would have wasted an hour of your life. best case is, u'd get back some or all of your money.

good luck and i'm pulling for you
GG,
I appreciate the kind words. I will do my due diligence on the above advice, but reading Greg's posts it doesn't sound good. You would think there would have been something done in the past.

I don't remember FJ or FFOC filing bankruptcy. They both just went away. Will the original owners file bankruptcy here? It seems possible and I think likely, but I don't know for sure.

Kevin, I agree with Mark. This is terrible for all of the baseball owners who appear to have nothing to play for. I know you're in our NFBC Ultimate Auction League and you have a shot at our $40,000 league prize. You know you're getting that if you win it. But to have a shot at $200,000 and to invest in as many teams as you did and now have the rug pulled out from under you is insane. It's unbelievable. I feel bad for you and I know there's nothing we can do but a good player like you I hope remains in the industry. You're too good of a player to leave over this. I hope you stay and if you're in Las Vegas on either weekends in September the beers are on me. Good luck man.
Greg,
I'll be contacting you soon about Vegas. I already have a plane ticket for the 2nd weekend so I might as well do something when I'm out there. I'm still trying to get over this mess, when I do I will be in touch. Thanks for keeping my spirits up.

Amazing, amazing job Kevin (esp considering the competition)!
Great to hear Kevin. Yes, if you're coming to Las Vegas then join us for the NFFC Primetime and grab some Online Championships too to get back that $200,000 prize!! I'll pay you, I PROMISE!! Beers are on me, but you already knew that!! :D Talk to you soon and good luck the rest of the way in the NFBC Ultimate Auction League. That's still a good prize to be won.

I believe the winner of the AFFL grand prize was suing the original owners, but I don't know the latest on that one. I believe Bald Is Beautiful is helping him with that lawsuit. FFOC paid all of its cash prizes in full, but there were free leagues won that weren't fulfilled because the contest ceased the next year. And Fantasy Jungle's owners just disappeared without ever paying off the prizes from the year before.

Everyone lost there and it looks the same way with the two other contests from this year.

Got screwed by all those places also. Lost a ton of free entry value at FFOC, took it in the ass from jungle, and have got 25 percent of AFFL money. They claim they will eventually pay. Then add in WCOFF fiasco, alarming amount of money not likely to be paid at full tilt poker and a shitty sportsbook called oddsmaker stiffing me for 25k it has not been a fun period of time. Football drafts are a nice distraction, even if for a couple hours.

posted by wcoff spokesman tonight:

Guys -

Just a few quick words to help get everyone on the same page. We realize in the absence of communication from us, we empower others who have no direct knowledge of the situation the opportunity to create their own story. Clearly, we are working through some things internally with GridIron Fantasy Sports. We need to settle these internal issues before any of us are able to freely participate on the Message Boards.

That being said, I want to set a few things straight with regards to the discussion around Ian and Emil's interest in WCOFF. Ian has been a long time player in WCOFF and one of the most respected fantasy players in the game. He and his partner, Mark Deming, continue to be ranked among the world's best fantasy owners. He's a successful fantasy player, businessman and all around decent human being. When Ian approached us with an opportunity to get involved with the business, we welcomed his interest with open arms. And when he included a well respected member of the WCOFF Hall of Fame in the potential deal in Emil Kadlec, things only got more interesting from our perspective.

I believe Ian did everything he could to pull a deal together. As is the case in these kinds of deals, Ian wasn't the only person involved from his side. Trust me, that I know what its like to represent a larger group and while I may be driving the car, I'm not always in charge of the direction the car is going to go. I trust that Ian did everything he could to get his group, who were probably less familiar with the fantasy industry and specifically WCOFF, than he is, to understand the dynamics of our business. In the end, we couldn't push a deal across the finish line. But it had nothing to do with Ian's desire, my desire or a lack of willingness by GIFS to be flexible in deal structure.

We've included many of the WCOFF players in these discussions and even invited them to the table as we openly discuss this transition. We realize we're going to solve this puzzle by meeting the needs of a variety of people, and the players of WCOFF are at the forefront here. If anyone thinks I'm in this for me and only me - you couldn't be further from the truth. We appreciate the support so many of you have offered as we identify the proper solution to ensure WCOFF is around for many years to come. We understand people are frustrated and we share this frustration. If you are interested in contributing to a solution, we welcome your positive and constructive feedback. If you are not, please keep your slanderous and unfounded posts off our message boards.

Please rest assured you will receive official communication as soon as we have it. I certainly look forward to that time.

I hope you can trust the remaining games and continue to excel. You will get paid going forward, but I can't promise anything on the sportsbooks!! That's out of my jurisdiction!! :D

We will do our best to give you some fun in the online and live drafts you're entered in the NFFC. There's still a lot of money to be made this football season here and elsewhere. With your track record, I have a feeling you might get some of your winnings back. Continued good luck in baseball and best of luck in all of your upcoming drafts in football. Thanks man for sticking it out and sticking with us and the industry.
