I have been at the top, and have won a WCOFF league. That is irrelevant.
What IS relevant is the whiners trying to change the rules each and every year. You know...those rotating whiners who happened to have had a bad year in basically an 8 week race...who have ego's who can't take any form of loss.
You lost.
Grow up.

Do you mean after we hang him?

Mankind,
While I would not advocate getting hostile with people who mock this issue (even though I completely understand how frustrating that can be), I 100% agree with you that this is a serious issue.
We generally have two types of posts regarding this issue. Those who feel it is a legit problem and care to discuss ways to lessen the problem... and those who just mock the issue and anyone who cares to discuss the problem. These people never offer any compelling reason for why we should do nothing about the issue because they know full well they have zero chance to support their position. These people always take the discussion off on tangents or make wild exaggerations regarding the topic or ideas to address it. These are usually the people who just want to keep things the same for the sake of keeping things the same.
This is a serious problem and there is going to come a time that this impacts the overall event as a hole. This kind of event (high stakes ff) needs a large number of people to pony up a large amount of money for an event/contest that we all know can frustrate the life out of people year in and year out. This industry does not have a surplus of people lining up at the window to throw down two to four THOUSDAND dollars to participate. It would make a lot of sense to lessen the number of things that can leave a profound bad taste in the mouths of high stakes fantasy players who hopefully will continue to be high stakes fantasy players.
It is just good business.

Mankind......really sorry you and others are dealing with this. It can be a huge problem....like you said....if you're the one it's happening to. This is just another "luck" element that the game doesn't need.
I'm very happy to be in a league this year where every team from 1-14 is still fighting hard each and every week. It's not a level playing field when other leagues have 1-2 quitters...that's obvious.
I don't have a great answer (wish I did) but here's a suggestion: maybe Greg/Tom can field complaints about owners not fielding a legal lineup and give them a courtesy call reminding them how much other league members are counting on them to stay in touch with their team.
A little "put the shoe on the other foot" in a nice way might help or how about a NFFC reminder e-mail that goes out each week with the same message.
Whatever the solution I think the real job is changing owners mindsets and causing them to be better owners.
Once again....sorry about your misfortune.![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

I had another thought. Have every NFFC entrant list an alternate with contact info. This could be a FF baller who is not in any NFFC event that would agree to stand in for their friend in case of....."whatever".
This might also be a way for a future NFFC participant to use the software and get familiar with our game. I think this could have a very natural feel to it if presented properly.
The owner could hand over the reigns to their stand in or that person could be contacted by Greg/Tom if the orignal owner couldn't be reached.
It's probably not going to be 100% effective but unless we automate this (which I wouldn't vote for) I don't see anything being 100%.
Just some random thoughts.

I will add I'm in almost DEAD LAST Place in the Classic, and I'm still picking up players and submitting lineups to 1.Try and score has many points has I can. 2. Knock someone else out.
It's just a Pride thing. To be honest I don't think there really is any thing Greg should be asked to do.
Over time it will work both ways.
Better Luck,
John

Raiders,
Well said you are a class act, it is frustrating this time of the year. Good luck to you...Sportsbettingman continue your league titles in WCOFF and come play with the big boys in the NFFC if you get the courage

Route c,
Good ideas. There should be some kind of a "hotline" where league members can file a complaint or express concern about the upcoming week where they think an owner may ignore his team and hurt the competitive integrity of the league. If a message can be gotten to the owner before the games kickoff we may be able to ease the problem some.
I am just baffled with this odd vibe I get from many in our industry that comes off a little like this to me..
"Hey, we have had quitter teams ever since fantasy football was started.. all through the 90's I remember it happening... So automatically we must make sure we do nothing about it and continue to let that happen now as we enter 2010 and beyond..."
That mindset is beyond idiotic to me... and it is lazy.
