Week 4 Thoughts
Here are some random thoughts with all but one game this week now in the books:
Anybody still question the reason why the Bears traded for Jay Cutler?
Props to the Broncos. I still think Kyle Orton stinks but their defense is legit. Oh, and if you haven't dropped Eddie Royal already, it's safe to do so now.
Welcome to the end zone Randy Moss. It missed you.
The Redskins are bad, people. They're really bad.
If you started the 49ers or Saints defenses this week, drinks are on you.
Drew Brees hasn't thrown a TD in two games and the Saints are 4-0. If that doesn't scare the rest of the NFC, it should.
I think we're inching very close to calling Carolina's Steve Smith "the other Steve Smith."
Remember when the Chargers and Steelers had good defenses?
Speaking of the Steelers, I think Willie Parker may have been Wally Pipped last night.
Peyton Manning's pretty good. You know how I know this? He's opened the season with four straight 300-yard passing games and nobody's talking much about it because they pretty much expect it from him.
Mike Sims-Walker. Just say his name. It feels good, doesn't it?
We should no longer call the Raiders or Rams professional football teams. It's insulting to the real professional football teams.
I'm thinking the Browns may have found something with Mohamed Massaquoi.
Same with the Titans and Kenny Britt.
Marion Barber was healthy, running hard and looking good, so what do the Cowboys do? They give him seven snaps in the second half of a close game they eventually lost to Denver. That's smart coaching.
LaDainian Tomlinson sure looks done to me.
I know the Ravens lost to the Patriots, but they are a good football team. They will move the ball on any defense this season. Joe Flacco's coming of age.
Don't tell anybody, but Shonn Greene got some carries this week and looked good. Keep that one under the radar for now.
That Terrell Owens experiment is working out great in Buffalo, isn't it?
Did you see Steve Slaton this week? This, my friends, is why you don't panic when it comes to talented RBs. Slaton was way too good to underachieve all season long.
I still think Sammy Morris is the best RB the Patriots have. He does more than Fred Taylor and is a stronger runner than Kevin Faulk. I think the Patriots need to use him more.

Week 4 Thoughts
Aside from not believing Tomlinson is done, I agree with all of this.
I will add some points.
If anyone ever needed to be reminded of how fine the line is between winning and losing in the NFL look no further than the Tennesee Titans who were 14-2 last year and are now 0-4.
Is it just me who thinks it is weird to see the Bengals winning games late as opposed to coughing them up?
Eli Manning is quietly growing into one of the best QB's in the league. I never gave him much credit and always felt he was average and not very accurate. He continues to produce.
How painful must it be to be a passionate Raider fan?
I was way off base on the Redskins. I saw some things in the pre season that made me think this offense (from a passing standpoint) would be good. I was dead wrong and avoided Santana Moss his entire career until this year. Even though he made a big play I have zero confidence in him week to week.
Where is the Steelers pass rush?
I can't remember a Monday night game I looked forward to this much. Usually I tivo them and fast forward through all the time between plays. Not tonight.

Week 4 Thoughts
I don't think Bush stinks but his role has changed. He has gone from averaging nearly 6 receptions per game to about 4. I thought he would be much more involved yesterday against the aggressive Jets' defense but the Saints played from the front and were never forced to throw it a lot.

Some thoughts....
-Tony Romo is a 2nd rate "run of the mill" QB.
-This is "the year of the TE". Tight ends are producing at an alarming rate this year, and the late end guys (Heath Miller, Brent Celek, etc.) look as good as the front end guys!
-Was at the Redskins game yesterday with Diesel, KOQ, and Gekko, and while they couldn't do ANYTHING in the first half, they scored 2 quick TD's in the 3rd quarter and people were singing "hail to the Redskins" all the way out of the stadium. This might be the worst 2-2 team in the history of the NFL. Carolina and Kansas City up next, so they EASILY could be 3-3!!
-Drew Brees should be renamed "Drew TEASE". 6 TD's, then 3, then TWO weeks with ZERO??? C'mon boss, I was expecting 30+ weeks EVERY week!
-Eddie Royal needs to come out and give a PUBLIC apology to all those that drafted him. Simply horrific!
-Hey Justin Gage...you suck too! You're not Braylon Edwards bad, but you are close.
-Don't look now, but the best team NO ONE is talking about is the San Francisco 49ers. They easily could be 4-0, have a nasty D, and Shaun Hill has outscored my starter (Drew Brees) the last two weeks. Of course next week when Brees is on a bye, Hill will put up his usual 7 point game!
-How do the Patriots ALWAYS find a way to win??? Oh yea, they cry for penalties (Brady) and get them. Like Rodney Harrison said..."take off your skirt, Tom"...this is FOOTBALL!
-As a Steelers fan, they certainly do know how to make things interesting. Hey Ben, look for your boy Hines more inside the 10....remember him?? He is the one with the 86 and smiling. You USED TO give him all kinds of love around the goal line.
-Have the seas turned to blood??? The Bengals are tied for 1st in their division. Oh wait.. 13 weeks left?? They'll screw it up.
-Darren McFadden....you are ATROCIOUS! Thomas Jones, Chris Johnson, and MJD ALL had HUGE weeks against Houston....you can't score 2 points??? You can have a seat next to Mr. Royal.

The fact that he is catching alot less passes is a surprise.

You're right about the Jets, Jack. But I thought they'd be able to bring out the blitzes and that would result in more dump-offs, screens and flairs to Bush. But the Saints played from the front and controlled the game so they never had to dial up a lot of passes. Sometimes the game doesn't unfold the way you expect. I didn't think the Saints would be put in a position against the Jets where they wouldn't have to throw the ball. But New Orleans' running game and defense took control of the game.
I think one reason for Bush's fewer receptions is a healthy and more productive Shockey. That's given Brees another weapon in the intermediate area that wasn't always there to take receptions away from Bush in the past.

Health has always been an issue with this guy, and this is the week he could go KAPOOT!
