MidSeason League A Results

One afterthough... My plan was to take one of top 3 QB's after a list of getting 2 RB's. Westbrook was taken by team 12 before my McNabb pick. I would have taken Westbrook had he fallen. He was the last RB on my "2 RB list"

He is pleading guilty to use of a cell phone which I think the league can only that use against him. I think he is out 1, maybe 2 games. I did back myself up and pick up players just in case he is out, so I am not too worried.

It was tougher doing an in season draft than a pre season draft. Not to omany surprises. It was a amtter of who started hot and who will finish hot. hopefully I pulled some players that will finish hot.

There can be only one favorite to win this thing and that’s me. In three weeks I will have two top-8 players in my line-up with a mid-2nd round value guy as my 3rd RB. The Edge, Duece, S. Davis combo should bring In 55-70 points a week, throw in a 20 point QB and I’ll average in the 135 point range.

The draft had a few surprises, I passed on both Portis and Barber who fell further than expected. I had targeted Moss, Duece and S. Davis as my first three picks, I figured everyone would let the injured RB’s slide, and they did.

I’ll take my chances that he still can put up 17-20 points a game and will miss at most 2 more games. The beauty of the total points format is I can mitigate any games he may miss by playing a WR at Flex or George on the Edge’s bye week, but if he puts up a 30-35 point monster game I will get all the points and gain an advantage the likes of which the Ty Wheatley and L. Henry owners have NO chance at seeing.

With DeShaun Foster's performances while he was sidelined the best Stephen Davis will see is splitting time with Foster. My better guess is that because the Carolina line is not the best and Stephen Davis not as quick to the small holes left we will begin to see Foster solidy his spot as their main back and watch Davis fall to the trading block or lose his spot outright.

The Edge pick is good although from my personal experience he loses out on a lot of points because the offense there is so explosive that they score on a lot of 20+ yard passes and remove hope for a high number of Rushing TDs.

I can't honestly say I know a whole lot about Deuce's situation right now but you better hope that he comes back as strong as he was before the injury.

And I am honestly speechless that you took 2 QBs in rounds 4 and 5 again. What are you thinking? You have shown the innate ability to always put the higher scoring QB on your bench in Chicago 3 (with Vick and Favre) and now you have saddled yourself with a Brooks/Favre decision every week also.

When will you ever learn *still shaking head*

Brad,

I enjoy our exchanges. However, your assessment of the situation for the Panthers is totally incorrect. The Panthers cannot win with Foster (look at his lackluster performance last week for proof of that.) That’s the whole reason S. Davis is in such a rush to return this week. Davis is the featured back in Car, no doubt about it. Foster will be lucky to average 5 fantasy points a game the rest of the way, Davis will pull in 15+.

I’ll respond to the rest of your comments in another post.

Brad let’s first review my NFFC main event decision:

I took QB’s in rounds 4/5 because I felt I could get WR’s far below their true value. My selections in the NFFC included:

Keysahwn Round 7
Roy Williams Round 8
David Terrell Round 10
David Patten Round 18

Let’s assume for a minute that we set aside bye weeks etc and assign a true value to this group based on where they went in last night’s A draft, the results are:

Keysahwn Round 5
Roy Williams Round 3
David Terrell Round 7
David Patten Round 7

So my NFFC team has four WR’s with 7th round value or better and I took all of them in or after the 7th round. If Deuce and Davis had not gone down or I had taken Alexander instead of the Deuce (don’t forget I am getting 1st round value from my 3rd round pick C-Mart as well) then I would be in great shape.

Vick has been a bust, I admit that, but having Favre keeps my team alive. Had I passed on Favre in the 5th and taken a Maddox or Garcia type in the 9th (where they in fact went) my season would be OVER. Instead I can write my Vick pick off and hope that S. Davis and Deuce put up enough points with C-Mart the rest of the way to close the 132-point gap that I now must overcome to be in the final-2 in our league.

Yes, I acknowledge that an 0-4 start essentially precludes any chance of winning the division even with a 9-0 run (which is unlikely), but I believe my line-up can chip away at this 132-point gap and I am in fact not out of it yet (thanks largely to the fact that all of my eggs are not in the Vick basket.)

As far as taking Favre last night in the 5th it was either him, Shockey or E. George. Since Shockey fell to the 6th and George to the 7th I am 100% happy with that pick.

No, I will not extract as much value from my later WR picks, but I gambled that I will have a clear advantage with 3 STUD RB’s in a few weeks. If I’m wrong about Davis then I can get 8-10 points a week from George or a 4th WR in the flex.

Favre is cemented into my NFFC line-up until Vick proves he can be consistent. However, I will rotate Brooks and Favre in this league based on the match-ups. Mark my words that another 5-6 starting QB’s WILL go done before the year is up. The last thing I wanted to risk was to see Brooks go down then try to win with a Mark Brunell type.

My WR core has a ton of upside and the ONLY thing I need my FAAB for is to grab any WR that emerges in the next few weeks (since I am solid at QB and RB and I have the byes covered for TE, K and D.)

My hard decision now is whether I want to use my free entry on the NFBC or the NFFC next year.
