Any thoughts on advantageous slots for drafting in a 14 team league? I would assume that mid-round slots are probably best. I, for one, would absolutely NOT want the 1st overall pick. That being said...I'm sure that is what I'll wind up with, natch!!!

I'm not sure that the overall #1 is all that bad because at least you are getting 1 stud RB for sure (people at 12-14 may not), and you get 2 picks on the way back.
I do agree that something from 4-7 is probably the best, if for no other reason, you don't have to miss out if there are big "runs" on players.

I've never done a 14 team league. If I can pick my spot, It would be a top 7. Next choice would be 12-14. That means I'll get 8, 9, 10 or 11 for sure.

#1 pick is the best. Pretty simple one guys.
Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

I think this year there are 3 backs who could easily end up number 1, and probably three or four more who have a decent shot at it. I would be happy with any of those top 7 and much happier drafting from the seven spot on the way down.

I want the #9 slot and still get a top 7 draft RB when someone in front of me takes a TE and QB.

I've run 14 team leagues since 1986. There are no bad picks, just bad owners.

Okay, you have a 31 year-old RB to build your team around. After that point, you can pretty much forget about getting any kind of "stud" player with your next two picks, although you will get decent players on that turn. Now you have one "stud" and 2 "solid" players that are pretty decent point getters, but you have to sit around and twiddle your thumbs for your 4th and 5th players, who will be ranked in the 50's. Trust me, bud...you had BETTER make some good picks there or you're up the creek without a paddle. There's much more luck involved in a 14 team league than any other format. Get ready to reach if you pull the ace. As I said...just one man's opinion. I also agree that there are "no bad players, just bad owners."

One man's preparation, is another man's luck.
I'll take #1, #28 and #29 any day. The key with the #1 pick is the impact of the player you take at #29 and #57. If those two make a solid contribution, that #1 pick becomes huge. Waste those picks and you're in trouble.
