total points (a true barometer)
Sorry, not a true barometer with all the injuries this year, or any year. Just as much luck in surviving injuries as in the h2h schedule.
The team with the most points drafted a great team and had less injuries to key players. That is luck also.

I have played in leagues run by Ant Sports.
They have a scoring system entitled Head-to-Head Victory Point Scoring System™ (yes, it appears to be trademarked on their site)
The League standings are kept with LEAGUE POINTS instead of wins and losses.
Each week you play head-to-head like normal leagues. A win awards your team with 2 LEAGUE POINTS, a tie 1 point, and a loss no points.
Each week, the teams are also ordered by total fantasy points scored during that week. LEAGUE POINTS are also awarded for having high scores.
High Score - 2 League Points
2nd - 2 League Points
3rd - 2 League Points
4th - 2 League Points
5th - 1 League Point
6th - 1 League Point
7th - 1 League Point
8th - 1 League Point
9th - 1 League Point
10th - 0 League Points
11th - 0 League Points
12th - 0 League Points
13th - 0 Legaue Points
14th - 0 League Points
So, the highest scoring team would get 4 LEAGUE POINTS in a particular week. But, if you zre the second highest score and lose, you still get 2 LEAGUE POINTS. Standings will be in order of LEAGUE POINTS and the top 6 in LEAGUE POINTS can make the playoffs.
This system still rewards HtH victories, but also rewards the high scoring teams (even those unlucky enough to always lose to the highest scoring team).

I strongly disagree with those that believe "total points" is a better discriminator of quality in fantasy sports than is HTH. Total points is easily inflated by players that go off. Average players often have these "blow up" games and in HTH competitions those events lead to those owners winning one game. Whereas, in total points leagues the owners get the cummulative value through out the year.
Obviously, there is a random factor associated with HTH but as long as each team plays each team the "luck" element is minimized.
Now, if your goal is to actually find the competitive enviroment with the least contribution of the luck factor then you would select the HTH format in which each team competes with each team through out each week of the season. However, in my opinion this is not a natural format for competition and is not as FUN.
Personally, I see total points as less fun, less realistic, less fair and less desirable. But that is just one man's opinion.

Since some favor H2H, somehate it!
Since some favor total ponts, some hate it!
Since some favor all play, some hate it!
Just talking about ranking 3-6 for the playoffs.
Why are you for or against using the power rankings?
