Re: Where Are The Top Rookies Going?
Rookies whose stock got a bump last night:
Sammy Watkins: He's the No. 1 WR in Buffalo now. It won't be easy with E.J. Manuel at QB, but this offense is really capable now of spreading out defenses with all of this talent. He was going 80th before the draft. It will be interesting to see where he goes now.
Brandin Cooks: Landing in New Orleans was ideal for him. He could be the top fantasy rookie by season's end.
Kelvin Benjamin: He could easily be the No. 1 WR in Carolina right now. Cam finally has a big target to throw to. Benjamin was going outside the Top 200 in NFFC drafts, but he has to move ahead of Marqise Lee now.
Eric Ebron: Landing in Detroit with that spread offense is perfect for a big tight end like Ebron. I don't expect him to have a huge rookie season, but this was an ideal landing spot for Ebron.
Johnny Manziel: So what if he had to wait until the 22nd pick to get drafted. He landed with a team that desperately needs a face for the franchise and Johnny Football can excel here. Maybe Brian Hoyer starts in Week 1, but eventually Johnny will earn the starting job this year. His fantasy stock may have dropped a little, but never count him out.
It was great to see Mike Evans land in Tampa, where V-Jax and Evans will be the new Brandon Marshall-Alshon Jeffery tandem. Odell Beckham going to the Giants was another good landing spot. Now let's get to the Running Backs tonight.

Would have loved to have seen Watkins and Gordon on same team. Not sure now great he will be on Bills.

Lovie loves to run the ball. While you have 2 6-5 WR now in Tampa, I expect most of their work to come in the redzone and to stretch the field and block for Doug Martin. I think Evans will have 6-8 tds as a rookie, but not great PPR #'s.

Gotta love the Titans. Gigantic needs at QB and WR (RB too) and they pass on Manziel and Beckham to address an area they addressed last season. Well done, Tennessee.

I guess they know Locker needs all the time he can get back there. Wonder if the Giants would have taken Lewan over Beckham if he was there at 12?

Locker's terrible. All the time in the world isn't going to help him.marisschris wrote:I guess they know Locker needs all the time he can get back there. Wonder if the Giants would have taken Lewan over Beckham if he was there at 12?

Will be interesting to see what Titans do with the 10th pick today. It's a really deep draft. Can't believe no RBs in first round. Tonight will be more interesting than last night IMO. Texans will probably take Carr. Tenn may get Garoppolo. We'll see.

The Browns sold 1,000 season tickets within the first hour after Manziel was drafted. Unless he's an absolute train wreck in camp I don't see how he isn't the Week 1 starter. Go with Hoyer and the Browns will have another Tebow/Orton situation on their hands. There will be a fan revolt if Manziel isn't the starter and it honestly won't be fair to Hoyer because every mistake he makes (big or small) will result in fans demanding Manziel take over.

Agreed, but Hoyer played so well until he got hurt. Had great chemistry with Gordon. Tough call not to give Hoyer a shot and work Manziel in slowly. Remember, he's only a sophomore. He still needs work at the NFL level.

Re: Where Are The Top Rookies Going?
The fans won't care. If Hoyer struggles in any way and/or the Browns aren't winning, there will be an insane amount of pressure to play Manziel. Same thing happened in Denver with Tebow and Orton (who didn't play all that badly as a starter). Unless Manziel soils the bed in camp I think he should be the starter. But then again, I don't believe that Hoyer is anything more than a pedestrian (maybe slightly above pedestrian) NFL QB.marisschris wrote:Agreed, but Hoyer played so well until he got hurt.
