20-25 touches a game is great.
20-25 touches a game for 60 yards and 0 TDs not so much.
I've heard the "workhorse back" endorsement of Ajayi many times. That conveniently overlooks the lack of production. Let's use the following example:
Player A - 21 touches, 63 total yards, 0 TDs
Player B - 12 touches, 108 total yards, 1 TD
Which is the more valuable fantasy player? It's obviously Player B. In this example I used Ajayi's Week 14 production compared to Theo Riddick's Week 1 production. Granted, I'm cherrypicking but my point remains - give me the more productive player even if he isn't the one getting the most volume. Ajayi got tons of volume last season but as a simple look at the production showed it rarely resulted in quality RB2 fantasy production. And he's being viewed as an elite RB1? Far too many people are looking at the 3 200-yard games which were awesome and ignoring the fact that for the majority of the season he was very unimpressive.
