I believe that individual players should be awarded 6 points for every TD they score, no matter where they lined up. I would be in favor of this rule change.

I think there are some kick returners who possess an uncanny knack or skill, if you will, to go the distance. I think they should be rewarded, as should an owner who has placed them into their lineup.

Okay, Tom added the paragraph on the "Meacham" play. Let us know if you agree with this scoring format for the NFFC in 2010:

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
1 point for every sack
2 points for every interception or opponents' fumble recovery
6 points for every touchdown (interception return, defensive fumble return,
punt or kickoff return, blocked field goal return, blocked punt return). All
special teams and defensive points are awarded to the team responsible, not
the individual player. Should a kicker, punter or field goal holder throw a
pass off a fake attempt, however, the offensive output for that offensive
play would go towards the individual player, not the specials team. Also,
any lost fumble or muff on a specials team play does not result in negative
points for that individual player.

In the event of a "double turnover" when a team's offense turns the ball over and on the same play forces a turnover and scores a touchdown, the offensive player who scored the touchdown will receive six points. The player will not receive any other fantasy points for the play. The Team Defense/Special teams will receive points for the fumble recovery, but not for the touchdown.

2 points for every safety
12 points for a shutout by the entire team
8 points for allowing 2-7 points by the entire team
4 points for allowing 8-12 points by the entire team
2 points for allowing 13-17 points by the entire team

Could you explain the above further. If a TD results from a fake punt or FG, does DST get 6 points?

Thanks.
I agree this needs an explanation. Why the exception here? This is a Special Teams play. If you're not going to give Devin Hester 6 points for returning a punt for a TD, why in the world would you give a placeholder 6 points for throwing a TD on a Special Teams play?

Greg/Tom

I think this further defines the potential rule

If the offense of a team runs an offensive play(Excluded are Special Team Plays of Punt, Pooch Punt, Fake Punt, Field Goal, Fake Field Goal, Extra Point Kicking, Extra Point Attempt for 2 Points) and an offensive player scores a touchdown as a result of the opposing defense forcing a turn over(fumble/interception) and in the course of the same play the defense turns the ball back over (Double Turnover) then the offensive player that scored the touchdown would be awarded the Fantasy Points for that touchdown. No Fantasy Points are awarded for Yardage or the turn over (Fumble/Lateral Interception) to that scoring offensive player. All turn over Fantasy Points (Fumble/Interception/Lateral Interception) would be awarded to the respective defense in the game.
This is wording we've had in since Day One, I believe. No, that's exactly what we're saying, the special teams do not get the offensive points for this play. It goes to the individual player who made this play. Hope that helps.
