NNoy, it was nice to meet you on Fri. night at the auction (Aaron Seefeldt, "Razor Shines" from baseball). It's an interesting strategy and I hope it works for you. I personally was planning on punting QB's til the end but Aaron Brooks was available with my 9th round pick (pick 116) so I grabbed him.
On a different note, I love the Keyshawn pick. He is high on my sleeper list to post excellent #'s for Bill Parcells. He shouls be good for a ton of catches. The yardage per catch will be low but in Bill Parcells I trust. Keyshawn was my 2nd WR picked.
Let me ask all of you a question: I had the #4 pick overall and I figured there was a 30% chance or so that Ahman would be available if the #3 pick was Deuce M. Surprisingly, Ahman was available but not because of Deuce going at #3, rather Portis was taken. So I had to choose between Deuce and Ahman. I took Ahman but was very tempted to take Deuce. So the question is - do you guys rate Deuce ahead of Ahman and if so, why? The possible 20-30 extra catches? Ahman had 20 TD's last season, hard to pass on those.
Thanks for the input fellas. Looking forward to a fun season.

I take Ahman simply because he gets Detroit, Minnesota and Chicago Defenses to run against over and over and over again.

Thanks for the input fellas. Looking forward to a fun season. IMO...it's a toss-up between Deuce and Green. Given the choice, I would have taken Green and been happy that either of the two got past Portis (with all due respect to Portis owners), as Gibbs has a different approach to RB than Shanahan. These guys will all perform well, provided that they stay healthy, and the point difference should be minimal. My concern is that MY guy stays out of an orange jumpsuit.
Good luck, guys.

NNOY
I will not beat on you any more (until we face off in week 4 that is) when your top 2 WR's are on bye.(Keyshawn and Rookie..I mean Roy Williams)
Your strategy and the league schedule maker have softened the blow of Moss's bye for our team.
Ico
I'm interested in your take on my 2nd pick.
I was also in the draft with NNOY. We had targeted Culpepper or Manning with our #2,but almost switched when T.O., C.Johnson and Ward were still available.
We didn't anticipate the disrespect to wides in the draft but decided to stick with our original plan even though it meant taking Wheatley (#4) and Dayne (#6) "..say it ain't so Joe".
C.Brown went 1 pick before us in the 2nd which left T.Jones,Staley, and Griffin as the best RB options.
My gut tells me we should have gone WR with that pick. What's your take?
Chicago3/Pick7
QB Manning
RB Wheatley/Dayne
WR R.Moss/Mason/Walker/Kennison
TE F.Jones/Witten
K Elam
D Pittsburg

Indy, do you have a backup RB or plan if Dayne isn't that productive?

Dyv
A very shaky plan. We picked up Fargas#8 to insure the Wheatley pick And Pittman#9 in hopes of some production after the 4 game work release.
We decided it wasn't worth compromising the rest of our team by drafting the back-ups that remained.
We are definately rolling the dice but I think we did what we had to - to give ourselves a chance. I hate picking SAFE teams. If we were in a trading league depth would mean more to me, but I don't want to have a "deep" team because I'm afraid of the injury bug. Who knows - maybe Barber or Garner go down early. RB's start to look like value picks then.
I'm not fooling myself though: I've got my fingers crossed on both hands.
Schedule makers did us a big favor though -
We play the Holmes owner in week 5 and the A.Green owner in week 9.

I'm not sure having another option outside of Dayne would have been changing anything you just said (i.e. starting roster vs. backup depth).
I think if Dayne gets 10 carries a game and averages 38 yards rushing you've gone all-in early and lost.
Not that it can't payoff (If Tiki fumbles twice in the opener and Coughlin benches him, for example!)
I got Dayne as my 3rd RB - so I hope you're right

It's tough to have a problem with taking Manning in 2nd round -- you have 4 solid WRs, which gives you a leg up.
As a New Yorker, I shudder at the backfield of Dayne and Wheatley, but I'm a guy who drafted Travis Minor, so what the hell do I know?

I was in the league with Ico (NY #6), and I'm not sure if this was brought up yet, but someone in our league took Culpepper in round #1, and Bulger in round #4. I think having a good backup QB is underrated (because all the starters are taken, and not many QB's make it through the entire season), but I agree that there is FAR too much value to pass up to take a backup there. Grab a Garcia, Palmer, etc. 3-4 rounds later so that you can sleep at night, but there were players like Darrell Jackson, Andre Johnson, etc. still on the board, and he did not yet have a WR.
There are a few teams who are starting VERY shaky QB's with no quality backups, and I think that was part of his plan (eliminate a couple teams by taking a great backup). However, he may have shot himself in the foot... we shall see!
