NFFC Dynasty League Auction

I think a a little change should be made...

instead of keeping a player forever, you have to sign players to contracts after 2 years of being on the team...
for instance, this year you draft LT for $70, he gets a 2007 1Y designation this year...if the owner wants to KEEP LT next year he can at 2008 $70 2Y....the next year 2009 if he still wants LT, he has to SIGN THE PLAYER TO A CONTRACT, adding $5 per year......

if you want him for one year you sign LT to $75 2010...or for three years $85 2012...

ANy Keepers salaries gets deducted from the $200 Auction allowance....

SO if the Owner kept LT in 2008 for $70, and Leon Washington for $1 and Eli Manning $2, then he would have $127 left for the draft....

SOme teams may only keep Bryant Johnson for $1 and have $199 to spend on the draft.....Other teams make keep 8 players for $150 leaving only $50 to dally in the draft...

WHen a player's contract expires (in the off -season), then the player is placed into the Draft Pool along with the rookies and other unprotected (unsigned/unkept) players...

This is a Dynasty League that does more than a simple rookie draft and gives more flexibilty to the owners...

This type of league keeps one team from having a strangle hold on it and gives teams at the bottom knowledge that LT will become draft eligible eventually....it also enhances the importance of the end an Auction because those $1 sleepers become Dyansty Gold! (Marques Colston Drafted for $1 in NY Auction 2006) ...

let me know what you think....

I play a baseball league with almost the exact same rules as just proposed and it works great. I think it is very important that trading only be allowed in offseason and that it is subject ot commissioner review to make sure there is no teaming up.

let me know what you think.... Once the lge fills, we'll discuss rules ... but what you're suggesting are fairly standard keeper rules, which is not the concept. I also want to keep this simple to manage (avoiding contracts, escalations, etc).

I'm shocked that this league hasn't filled and started on a second.

The only concern that I can see is that it might be difficult to come to Vegas every year for the rookie draft. I think we should plan on the rookie draft being online. However, I think it is important to have the initial draft in person.

I can't think of a league that I would prefer to be in over this one.

If I had done an auction in football sometime within the last 15 years I would consider it, but I just can't justify ponying $1000 to do something I may flat out suck at. Sounds like a great idea and there are some high quality owners here and I wish you the best in your venture.
ps- I know I added nothing to this topic, just thought I would help support the idea while doing nothing to help fill the league.

KJ:

I'd be interested in taking part. Schedule is clear and nothing better than an Auction.

getting closer ... I know there are at least 4 more players out there that are gonna be jealous when we're doing an auction and the rest of you are just standing around after the draft waiting for the season to begin. You'd probably just go blow a bunch of cash in the casino, when you could instead get years of entertainment value from a donation in the dynasty league. :D

Are you in the $650 auction?? It really isnt "harder" than a draft. I actually had the best record, finished 3rd, my first year in auction league although I have some experience in low entry fee auction varient leagues. Another opportunity to gain experience with auctions is to work as a facilitator.
