Let's Try To Fix the Big Boston Classic Draft Mixup

Post by nolencole » Sun Sep 05, 2010 2:15 pm

Ok...I didnt spend 3K (draft, flight, lodging) to come home without a classic team. If anyone wants to reimburse me on the expenditures, I will be fine redrafting online. I know there were mistakes made and I probably am safe saying our draft was not the only one.

Mr. Lundgrens Team#4
1.M.J.D
2.Shonne Green
3.Tony Romo
4.Cris Wells
5.Sidney Rice
6.Brent Celek
7.TJ Housh
8.Vincent Jackson
9.NY JETS
10.Nate Kaeding

That lineup is not terrible and lacking in talent, as some may suggest. I was there, this is team #4 top 10 picks. It is getting very old, hearing the slams directed toward me and other owners in this league.

I can post the rest if needed...

I am also in the camp that believes that the integrity of the entire event has been compromised because of this.

Every year people join the main event, draft their team and then basically ignore for the rest of the season. This is no different than that, except a few extra players were rostered who normally wouldn't have been.

Seriously, there are numerous leagues each season with deadbeat owners.....the fact that this deadbeat was revealed on draft day does nothing to change the lack of equality that is prevalent in a national contest.

Does is suck? yes.....should've been handled differently? yes....(sorry, but lack of a brain was used when rostering the IR players)......is this league any better or worse than all the others due to this?.....nope.

The sky isn't falling and this league will go on just as the rest.

As far as how this was handled, that is obviously another story.

Thanks for the positive input...I was beginning to doubt the owners and the boards of the NFFC and the comradery that I have seen over the last several years.

Some rational thinking at last.

No...Its TEAM #4, the team in question....

The one that is going to jeopardize an entire event.

Geez guys, the real point of my long-winded post wasn't to slam the owners, it was to try to help rectify a situation that could affect many - both in your league and overall. I'm really not on a head-hunt for any of the unfortunate 13 players who DID show up. Please try to stay on point here. And because this can effect both your league AND the overall 300 teams, I'm also interested in input from more players OUTSIDE this league.

As for the strength of the starters on Eric's team... Who the heck is he going to start for WRs the first 6-8 weeks? Yes, the WRs listed are probably good for the second half of the season. But this team might be pretty easy to beat until then. Also, how 'bout his bench? I hear it was ludicrous. How will this team fare during bye weeks?

The ideas above by Sandman62 are terrible and thoughtless. Guess who benefits if a team is taken out of a 13-team league? Answer: everyone else in the league who now has one less opponent in FAAB to bid against and already got a huge advantage during the draft!

Sandman62, please do everyone a favor and have your kid read what you're about to post first to make sure it doesn't make you sound like a clueless fool.

Having the robot team take players either now or through FAAB (By bidding aggressively for WRs) would be much fairer to the overall contest and make the early match-ups much fairer as well. Its not my decision, nor yours, but that is my opinion on what would respect all parties.
