The team invested a boatload into the QB, along with draft picks, but decided to go cheap with his protectors?! What kind of a business model would this be in the real world? There are hundreds of ncaa teams all w/layers of offensive lineman, yet these gentleman seem so hard to find. Angelo & Bears brass would be the little pigs building the house out of straw. At least they can run block though, oh wait..

"The Fantasy Perspective"- Week #7

Russ, the Colts are baaaaaad. They've actually done quite well over the years masking their inefficiencies, this year, they cannot hide.....especially when half the team is on IR! Have you ever seen a team on a bye experience what the Colts did this week?

No go on the 2 QB system in Philly. It was horrible how the substitution slowed down the Eagles last season, I don't think this year would be any better. I'm not sure Vick can continue to produce like he has.......they traded McNabb, let Kolb play, he's the future.

I didn't like Colt McCoy in college and even with a decent stat line, I still think he's merely a nice backup. I understand it was his first start, but I haven't seen a QB take off for the sidelines due to the smallest amount of pressure like Colt did Sunday. He did a decent job managing the game, though. I'm curious to see how he plays in the dome today. Watson and Moore should have a field day against those Saints. How about that Moore?? Throw him the ball moore. As for their teammate, Peyton Hillis.....is anybody else amazed how he's been able to play through that injury? If you watched him a few weeks ago, he was constantly hobbling, yet he continues to produce.

Down in Big D, I'd fire Wade and Garrett....a few seasons ago. I cannot stand watching the Cowboys and their play calling. When I played, the screen was the easiest play for me to read......when watching a Cowboys game, I can tell it's a screen AND/OR the Romo draw......if I can see this on the snap of the ball from home, surely these NFL defenses see the same thing. From the Cowboys lack of consistency on offense, I think their predictability is well known.....oh yes, do people still think Romo can lead a team to the Super Bowl? Sorry, it's not going to happen....better fantasy QB, than NFL.

Speaking of overrated QB's.....can the folks still left on the Matt Ryan train exit immediately? He's never going to be an elite QB....his first pass and leading the team to the playoffs in his rookie season doomed him.

One of those pretenders are more real than even I could have imagined. The Kansas City Chiefs are building something special there. The coaching staff alone has done wonders for that team....add in the playmakers ON BOTH SIDES of the ball and you have the makings of a very dangerous team.....in a crappy division. If and it's one of the biggest IF's ever, if Matt Cassel can play at an average level, without turnovers, the Chiefs will be in the playoffs in January.

Thomas Jones.........what can you say about that guy? He is still running better than many of the backs in the league. I don't know how much longer he lasts, but if he plays a few more seasons, with better than average production, I might consider him HOF worthy. The guy is a good player.

I love that Lions team. It's not going to get any better than Stafford to Johnson the next few years. The new regime has done a great job at drafting......once they massage their offensive line and get their secondary fixed, they are going to be a contender.

I wonder if MLB is happy right now.......what was a New York vs. Philadelphia series is now an Arlington/San Fran series. Poor TV ratings.

Speaking of TV, I heard Del Rio called those pointless(to us) timeouts in the Monday night for his employer. Based on how the game proceeded, the amount of TV timeouts was lower than needed, so Jack bit the bullet and was made to look like a fool as he did what any good employee would do.

FYI: Ryan Mathews really is a good back....tomorrow could be the game he finally awards fantasy owners. How about that game tomorrow? Bolts are favored and even though I have no faith in them, I think they might actually win. Rivers will probably throw for another 400 and they will somehow make the plays to get the win....Kris Brown with the winner!!!!

Tomorrow, owners of Brandon Tate will probably be wishing the NFFC credited return TD's to the player who actually scored.

Things I'll be watching for.

Can Johnny Knox actually score a TD? And will this pass be thrown before I count to 7 seconds after the ball's been snapped....freakin Jay Cutler.

I'm curious to see if the cake matchup is good for Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin or if the lack of resistance causes them to soil the bead for fantasy owners?

Did Carson Palmer find himself during the bye week.....or at least did he find his arm?

And the bigger culprit in Palmers decline, Chad Ocho5.......can he play with a little more speed this week?

Steve Johnson, can you exchange those TD's for reception and yardage production?

Is C.J. Spiller still alive?

Chad Henne, can you play to the level I fully believe you are capable of playing against a great D?

Laurent Robinson, can h....err, wait, I said things I will be watching......no watching the Bucs down here. I usually have 3 TV's going, 1 main one with the Ticket and two others on local channels......used to hate having to watch the Bucs every Sunday, now I actually miss having them on.

I really want to see how Max Hall plays in Qwest field. He was a decent QB in college, he could turn into "something" in the NFL.

If Jason Campbell plays, I want to see if he can actually get the ball to Zach Miller and Louis Murphy.

Will Andrew Quarless get more targets? How about Jimmy Graham in the Big Easy? And another youngster, Ed Dickson?

Can Brandon Jackson score a TD? Though I have acquired him here and there, is James Starks really going to be much better than Jackson?

Can you say Blair White? Oh wait, that's for next week?

Russ, good luck getting people to join in.

Way to bring it guys! Especially you Patrick.

I've said it for years that the Colts are a Peyton Manning injury or retirement away from 3-13. Dungy was a good guy, but this staff has been a joke for the last 6+ years. Better enjoy Manning while it lasts Colts fans.

McCoy may just be average, but we'll never know if the Brownies don't help him with some talent. They have started to turn it around and I love Hillis for them. I think they need a #1 to let Massaquoi develop as a true #2. There is hope in Cleveland yet!

I will be looking to see what the Bills do with Spiller now that they've moved Lynch. I'm betting he becomes relevant sooner than later. Anyone else surprised to see Fitzpatrick looking as decent as he has? How do coaching staffs get it so wrong???

The Jets D looks just above average to me. I think they're blitzing too much. While Revis and Cromartie are good, why force them to be amazing all of the time? Sanchez is still the achilles heal of this team and I think the Jets make an early exit from the post season.

MLB outdrawn on Monday night versus a horrible NFL matchup. America's Game no more. They lost me with the lockout years ago. I went from multiple fantasy baseball teams and watching 100 games per year to now I'm lucky to catch a few playoff games. I can't be the only one.

I heard this week that the NBA is considering reducing the number of teams due to economic hard times. Has a league fallen any farther any faster than the NBA post Michael Jordan? Once talk of expanding to China and now possibly eliminating teams in their own country. Sad. But hey, I can take my family, well 4 of us anyway, to a game for around $400. Those days are long gone fellas.

OK, maybe the NHL. Are they still on the Oxygen network?

I think the NFL (both owners and players) need to take notice here. As much as the NFL is loved, it is not above a similar fate. Before they continue talks of expanding to Canade and Europe, they better get their house in order.

Back to fantasy football, how are the Panthers going to play after the BYE week? Them and Dallas are the 2 biggest wastes of real talent I can think of.

The Packers resemble the Colts IMO. Too 1 dimensional with a suspect Defense without their star player on the field.

I think someone made a point in another thread about the Pats and Giants being dogs this week. I know the Bolts and Boys are in desperation mode and I usually favor that in any matchup, but I'm not sure either team can get out of their own way at this point?!

I do like what the Chiefs have done by adding 2 great Coordinators, it's the Head Coach I'm not sold on. And wasn't it he who brought Cassel with him? Seems like they need a quality QB and a HC with less ego.

Future star watch...Trevor Steele, my 15yo son had a sack Friday night after motoring from his left DE position to get to the QB o nthe far side of the field. :D Not bad for a Sophomore on the #6 ranked team in the state! College Scouts are you listening? I need some relief i nthe wallet. ;)

How far has Ocho fallen? TO looks far superior to me and my untrained eye.

Speaking of TO, I heard he was fined for a Tweet to give away something to his fans. Lighten up NFL! And while I'm at it, a 15 yard penalty on the Boys because someone fell after chest-bumping while celebrating a TD? I miss the days of the Redskins "fun bunch"!

Patrick, I agree, I hope more hop in over time. This board needs an infusion of positive NFL talk. Save the bickering for your wives. :D

From the brilliant Jerry Maguire, help me help you. Help me help you! :D :D

I say the league needs to expand the Challenge system going forward. Give each team 4 TOs/Challenges per half. Add in Pass Interference as a challengable call. This shouldn't add any more time to the game and it would help to get more "game-changing" calls like PI correct. If there is no need for the challenges, then so be it, but how many times do we see missed calls go untouched on big plays? I think a lot.

What I want is for Patrick to publish his week 8 "fantasy perspective" early so I can go AGAINST it and do well!

I know Patrick praised him, but I just want to say that Ryan Mathews absolutely SUCKS. He can't block, isn't a goal line guy, and isn't a 3rd down back. He is simply a "tweener" in Norv Turner's offense.

I actually liked your read a lot Patrick. :D

I just heard on Monday Night Countdown that the NFL said the Steelers call on Big Ben's fumble was the right one because there was no "clear view" of the recovery.

Does this mean all fumble recoveries must happen immediately or just the ones that involve instant replay. Total BS!!!!!!

Dude came out of the pile with the ball. WTF else do you need to know? That's how we decide all err...most fumbles.
