What I think we've found in baseball is it creates a tough strategy where some guys have been forced to cut key players because they can't wait six weeks for them to come off the DL. Baseball is totally different. If one player doesn't play, it has less of an impact in baseball than football. In baseball, you start 23 players; football is 10. If you can't fill a starting spot in football, you can almost consider that week a loss. It's almost meaningless in Fantasy Baseball (a cumulative game). Also, baseball doesn't have bye weeks to manage around.

I think the same tough decisions will have to be made in the NFFC with an 18-man roster, plus it makes deciding whether to carry two defenses, two tight ends and/or two kickers all year a good or bad strategy. 18 man roster is tough, esp when there won't be a lot of players left in the player pool. # of Players on roster in NCFF league = 252; # of Players on roster in WCOFF league = 240. So there will be 12 less players in the FA pool AND there will be 2 additional teams (14 in NFFC league & 12 in WCOFF league) bidding on the scarcer FA players.
13 team league with 19 man roster would be somewhere in the middle. weeks 13, 14, 15, 16 could be the playoffs.

I'll agree right back.
If you have 1 backup per position to cover injuries or bye weeks, that 6 players right there. So you only have the luxury of 2 extra backups to cover key positions. So if you have injury and then 2 players on a bye (it's possible at the WR position), you could have a void in your starting lineup.
As far as comparing to baseball, you have multiple position eligible players which make moving players aroun much easier.

Greg, GG and I agree, something is wrong with the world. But he is correct.

Gordon Gekko states a "18 man roster is tough".
Well yeah! Thats what its suppose to be. Gekko you can always go play at that internet site that offers 8 team leagues and the chance to win a T-Shirt. Its suppose to be tough. This is about $200,000.00 and beating some experts in the process.

See how fast your argument crumbles. Next "bright" post!

GG, you had me at 18, you lost me now
Walla, you want tough, draft good players at round 19 and 20. Now that's hard. You win with depth, there will alwasy be injuries/suspension, etc. Having a player ready to step in that you drafted last 2 rounds is something well prepard owners can do. but I guess we'll pare down the roster to give the unprepared last minute magazine buyers owners a chance in FA to improve thier team b/c they couldn't hack it at the draft.

Vega$ Gambler$, I think your missing the point
about having to bid for that one player you think can help you in a free agent pickup. That is also tough. Greg put it in there for a reason. Its not just about draft day and go home. Its about thinking all season and trying to outwit the others. Can you go with one kicker or will you be able to bid for one on the bye week. The daft will tell. If you want a full draft only league than sign up for the Draft Masters League.

While I enjoy the discussion and the fact that Gordon and Vegas Gamblers feel they agreed on something, I'm still confused. We're drafting 252 players, so the last minute magazine buyers will have a lot of work to do, don't you think Phil? And it seems like the discussion of managing your rosters, your bye weeks, your injuries, your in-season FAAB bids and the crucial picks in rounds 17 and 18 seem to be the type of stiff guidelines you'd expect if you're going to win $200,000. I keep hearing that 14 teams with rosters of 18 makes it tougher than 12 teams and 20 players each. But that's part of the logic behind the madness.
I think part of the pre-draft strategy will be with how you deal with the extra Ks, TEs, and Defenses and how you plan for the bye weeks. Eight extra players still seems like a manageable lot to fill those areas, but I'm willing to be proven wrong. Gordon, feel free to paste my statements and add rebuttals. It's a pleasure to watch how you do that!!!
