I'm In An Open Sports 12-Team Experts Draft

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:41 am

I threw a curve and went with Reggie Wayne. Here's my writeup:

This was a VERY tough decision. I really like Beanie Wells this year and I think he could be a Top 10 RB this year so the prospect of getting two Top 10 RBs in a non-PPR held plenty of appeal for me. However, the opportunity to land a stud talent at any position is tough to pass up and Reggie Wayne remains a stud WR. I'm gambling with this pick because I expect the RB talent to drop-off the board considerably in the third round but maybe I'll get lucky there. Either way, I have a Top 10 RB and a potential Top 5 WR. I'll take that start.

wayne was the right pick..he is better than roddy white.

you can still get a romo later...good move.

still some good quality RB to be had in round 3 or 4 though. think you need balance and your #1 WR would have been a second tier guy if you didnt grab wayne.

It would've probably been someone like Rice or Steve Smith of the Giants, both of whom I do like as WR1s (Smith moreso in a PPR format, however). My concern here is the RB talent is pretty weak after the first 15 or so are off the board. If I'm lucky, a guy like Pierre Thomas will fall to me in the third and I can come back with a stud QB in the fourth.

Not sure I'll be that lucky, though.

even Shonn Green or McCoycould be decent round 3 options. Also you may want to look at two rookies...TAte and Best.

I think Greene will be gone. I don't like McCoy as much in a non-PPR league. I can't bring myself to draft Tate and Best that early. I think they're more RB3 types. I'd lean toward Addai or Forte before them.

I'd take Stewart if he was there. He was a Top 20 RB last season despite injuries and the time share.

I think Forte is a guy who could bounce back a bit. I think he's a quality talent and I'm a big believer in talent winning out. I think he could be a solid RB2 this season. I wouldn't be thrilled with him, but if I was able to get a top RB, WR and QB and he was my RB2 I think I'd be in good shape.

The problem is many of these guys are better options in a PPR format (like McCoy) than the one this league is using. That makes it even trickier.
