mY FIRST FANTASY was 1983 we did a touchdown pool, we had 8 guys put up a hundred dollars winner take all.I remember i wanted to take a rookie running back so took DARREN NELSON in round 5. He picked up 4to 5 td's that year , but in round 7 the guy who won the pool took a rookie out of USC named MARCUS ALLEN WHO SCORED 13 TD'S THAT YEAR.I had the right idea but wrong guy.

I didn't become a Marcus Allen fan until he played for the Chiefs with Montana...That was fun to watch.

First, We all agreed on a newspaper we would all use for stats. It had to be the same paper because back then, a lot of times there would be a difference in a yard or 2 in different newspapers. We used The Daily News. We would all buy the paper on Monday and Tuesday, and manually add up our scoring system, and then call your opponent to match scores, and then the commissioner to give the results...What a change in technology since then... You mean we don't have to add up our own points?

Dam! There goes my strategy.

The best evolution was going onto AOL in 1995 and typing in a little known KEYWORD - STATS FOOTBALL

Basically it was Stats.com at their inception (the company that KRAUSE owns now). Anyway....STATS FOOTBALL was the only place to get a up to the minute real time stats on the football games. They were about 60 seconds behind the actual games but not one of my friends knew about this. They all waited till Monday morning newspaper to do their scoring...

Eventually I let one non-AOL buddy of mine know that I can access my points and in real time.....To make a short story long...he told a few other league mates...and my damn phone used to ring off the hook with guys asking, "Hey Fisher....can you give me my stats for my team." That became quite annoying....

Eventually Stats.com said F-U to AOL and moved onto their own service because they wanted AOL members to pay for it.

Thank goodness NFL.com is technology cutting edge with inputing game STATs now...NFL.com is like 5 seconds behind every play which is amazing....

My last years partner, ICO JONES actually worked for the NFL on sunday by watching the games from their control booths and typing the plays into a computer immediately after they happened.

I would guess he will be back with me next year because we are partners in the $100 satellite league
