Who wins 1st place?
Why are we playing h2h? For $5,000. If you have the best record and are tied for first place, then the next tie-breaker is total points for the $5,000 league prize. Nothing else.
After first place is determined, second place and third place money winners are determined by Total Points. If you go 11-2 and beat the other 11-2 team but finished with the fourth highest points in your league, you would not win any money. That is correct.

I think the only way out if this scenario is for the 11-2 Team with the most points to go as the Total Points Champ. The other 11-2 Team goes as the H2H Champ. This way the number two guy in total points gets screwed, but better him than the 11-2 Team.

Exactly, now that makes way tooooo much sense and will never happen. Why in the world is the tie-breaker total points, makes no sense at all.

DEREK , you might be wrong. let's say that out of the two teams that are tied , the total pts winner had beaten the other team tied for first. i think he should be h2h champ. the rules are the rules this year and we should abide with them but i think next year to think about a way to fix this. i am tied for first and second in pts with lots of horses in back of me very close. i could get screwed or do the screwing. whatever hapens , i had a blast this year.
THIS IS THE BUSINESS WE HAVE CHOSEN

The scenario presented only has two teams tied. What if there are three? This is like the BCS. No good fix that will make everyone happy. I agree Blackhand the rules are the rules. And unlike Pete Carroll in 2003, I will abide by them. Primarily because the NFFC is a blast no matter what the rulrs are.

Nothing funnier than seeing someone (Mankind) asking a basic (but with major implications) rules question 9 weeks into the season and then acting indignant when the rules don't correspond with what he thinks they should be. To me, that is absolutely hilarious.

I will just add that I believe that the NFFC places too much emphasis on total points. Total points can be greatly influenced by a player "blowing up" for a few weeks (Drew Bennett last year for instance).
I acknowledge that there is a random luck factor involved in the schedule assignment and bye weeks but that is life. It occurs in the NFL when you are lucky enough to face Philly after the TO suspension as well.
If the NFL has a very low scoring week, maybe because the high scores of the AFC West are on a bye, the teams that win because of "value" depth drafting are penalized when their 110-100 victory is discarded but the losing team in that match has a 180 pt blow up the next week.
I believe that we should go by record formost with points a second tiebreaker and I think teams should qualify for the playoffs based on record with the league high score being admitted if he/she doesn't qualify by record.
The NFFC emphasizes total points much too heavily.

i'd like to add that H2H records are crap. this is a fact and can't be disputed.
Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?

It is so funny to read this thead, nobody gets screwed. Everything is according to the rules. A person is only screwed if something is done that is NOT along the league rules. Everything was decided along leagues rules, so there is no screw here.

Some owners feel that head-to-head records determine the best teams.
Some owners feel that Total Points determine the best teams.
Some owners feel that h2h records followed by h2h matchups followed by Total Points determines the best teams.
Our setup rewards the top h2h record in each league with $5,000. Some people like that, some people don't. Ultimately, I like it as the determiner and last year all but two league titles went down to the final week of the regular season, which I REALLY liked. Eleven of 16 leagues ended in ties.
You can say that h2h matchups should be the first tie-breaker in each league, but then others would argue that Total Points over 13 regular season games makes more sense, especially with bye weeks screwing up those h2h matchups. Ultimately, I chose Total Points for that exact reason.
There's no insanity involved with our payout structure or our tie-breaker setup. A lot of thought went into this and we do our best to reward h2h matchups and Total Points.
Some agree with the current setup.
Some don't.
You can't please all the people all the time, but I believe our setup is fair and rewards the top teams in each league and in the entire competition. Changing it would please some of the people, and tick off some of the people.
I guess you get my point.
