Tim Tebow - Let's Talk
It's true he has some weaknesses to overcome. Weaknesses that may preclude him from having long term success as an NFL QB. However these weaknesses are being overstated. All the shortcomings he has, I've seen in other QB's. Some have overcome them, others haven't. Time will tell. Tebow's performance against the Dophins was ugly at times during the first 3 quarters, but as a whole it wasn't as bad as some are painting it. I've watched the film. There were 2-3 really ugly plays and maybe 3-4 more pretty bad plays. But overall it was hardly the worst performance of all time over a 3 quarter stretch. On the flip side, he also made some nice plays that aren't getting much attention. He had two passes that should have been caught. One right on the numbers that bounced off the receiver's chest, another that should have been an easy catch for Eddie Royal even though he was covered pretty well. Two nice throws in which the stats say 0-2. Another incompletion was due to the fact that his arm was jarred right while he's throwing. Another completion for a first down was wiped out due to a penalty. He also evaded pressure a couple of times in situations where 9 of 10 other QB's would have been sacked, instead he somehow evaded the tackles and was able to pick up the first down. He made a couple of great plays in key situations too. Not some fluke plays where it bounced off the defenders helmet and into the WR's arms, rather he had a narrow window to get the ball to Fells between three(i think, might have been two) defenders on a deep pass that set up a late TD.
So he's inconsistent, and can be erratic at times. That's what I usually hear when a young QB puts in a performance like this, but with Tebow, the picture that's being painted by some....if I hadn't seen the game film and just gone on some of the more harsh critiques I've heard, I would have thought that Fox decided to have Refrigerator Perry under center against the Dolphins.

It's time to rev up the Tebow Train for Week 8. Here are the only QBs I would absolutely start over him this week:
Brees
Brady
Vick
Newton
Roethlisberger
Romo
I'd probably start Eli over him and maybe Stafford too but the QBs above are the only ones I'd lock in ahead of Tebow without a second thought.

The following QBs will also score more NFFC points than Tebow this week: Flacco, McCoy, Dalton, Hasselbeck and Schaub. Bank on it!

Or... Maybe Tebow will score more than all of them COMBINED?! Gee... Gushing DOES feel good!

I am curious what the nay sayers will say after he scores well this week?
sandman will you just run and hide or will you come out and say you were wrong?
or maybe you will just say "next week he will not score and will be a bust"
Why some people are SO AGAINST HIM I will not understand.
It is either tebow's faith or arrogance of people that HAVE to be right.
I will root for tebow just to prove some wrong this week.

So if somebody like Sandman puts forward a logical, coherent opinion as to why he thinks Tebow will not be successful going forward, that means he's either arrogant or bothered by Tebow's faith?
Did you not read his posts? Or did you just not like his opinion and decided to skip that boring part?
No where does Sandman mention Tebow's faith or act arrogant. He expressed a well thought out opinion which may be right or wrong, but it's just an opinion based on football related observations and not once does he demean or degrade someone else's thoughts on the matter.
Then YOU bring up Tebow's faith and mention arrogance. Time to look in the mirror, my friend.

The main thing I took away from this thread is that Tim Tebow = Aaron Brooks. Actually Tebow may be better for fantasy but a worst NFL QB.
It amazes me how much discussion this guy generates. Every day on ESPN, a huge thread here. It's like people can't get enough of him. I'm not a Denver fan but I was even hoping that the Broncos were on network television this week. Love him or hate him, it's fun to see what he will do.

For the record, ffl"master", no, I will not admit I was wrong if Tebow has a good game this week. I've already said "let's check back in a month or two". As with ANY fantasy player evaluation, I take into account the quality of the teams he's produced against. This week represents probably his biggest test, vs. DET. But that's just one game too. And he does have several other cushy matchups the rest of the way, along with some tougher ones. So he could have some 20-25 point games along the way, as well as several more games in the 5-15 point range. IMO, I don't think he'll continue to run for a TD every game he plays, nor do I think he'll often throw more than one in a game. In my experience, you just don't get a lot out of fantasy QBs who only throw on average 1 TD per week and run in another 5-8 per season - unless they're also capable of regularly reaching 250-300 yards - which I just don't see happening with Tebow.
But maybe the reason some people are so against him has less to do with HIM than his band of merry uber-gushing followers, who so desperately seem to seek a hero and resort to arrogance and insults when everyone else doesn't share their unbridled enthusiasm? Personally, I've already gone on record with another reason why I'm not thrilled about him - I just don't like fantasy-relevant QBs coming off the waiver wire because it diminishes the draft efforts/strategies of those who used early picks to get stud QBs (i.e. Vick last year). Nothing single-handedly disrupts the QB landscape more than getting such an added (lucky!) boost in the middle of the season. So yes, I hope ALL wire QBs serve no better purpose than an occasional bye week fill-in. That's my selfish reason. But I also share in many others' opinions of his style of play, lack of arm strength, slow delivery, poor defense reading skills, priority desire to shuffle feet and take off running when he should be progressing through his reads, and the NFL defenses ability to counter such a one-dimensional player. This isn't Michael Vick we're talking about here, who defenses still have to play honestly or he'll air out a perfect strike 50 yards downfield to DeSean. No, Tebow couldn't even hit a wide-open Eric Decker streaking down the middle of the field. And though he may have been bigger, stronger, faster than others in college, not so in the NFL.
To me, it seems that an awful lot of people WANT to be right on him. Look, I have NO emotional attachment to his personal success or failure. To me, he's just another piece of QB beef for fantasy teams. Would I want my daughter to marry such a fine upstanding man? Of course. Do I want a guy with his deficiencies on my fantasy team? Hell no!
