IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS G.G. IF YOU REALLY ENTRULY FELT HIGH STAKES FANTASY FOOTBALL WAS INDEED A "LOTTERY" WHY WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON IT? billy used the term "lottery" to describe the 3 week sprint at the end.
But finishing top 2 in my NFFC Classic league 4 of the last 5 years IS NOT a lottery, IMO.

If someone said to you, "You have an 80% chance to double your investment and have a 1 in 60 chance in the championship round", I'll do it EVERY year!

My point is the championship round setup isn't that big of a deal to "bitch and moan" about it when I am winning $$. :D

H2H isn't nearly as "luck driven" as you make it out to be, Mark. That is a losing argument for you.
the #18 finisher last year in the NFFC was Generation Swine. He scored 1,758 points and finished with a 7-6 record.

here's a list of teams that all finished below 200 overall in points and HAD THE SAME RECORD as the 18th best owner:
205 TopGuns 1481.3
207 'Team Ezzell' 1479.6
216 FresnoFanaticsFB5 1472.3
218 Authentic Satan 1468.8
219 TOPDOGG 1468.1
224 Sabretooth 1461.4
225 Rube Nation 1455.65
229 The Ambiguously Gay Duo 1451.7
234 'Team Jefferson' 1442.65
235 LegionOFDoom 1442.45
252 'Team Maresca' 1409.15
253 'Team Mieszala' 1408.7
254 CANADIAN BEAVERS 1407.3
264 Fire Millen 1381.75
271 Grid Reapers 1366.05
273 RI Workhorse Main Event 1362.6
288 The Dark Knight 1319.35

ad two teams ranked below 200 overall had a BETTER record than the #18 owner. both these teams finished 8-5.
217 Crabcakes 1469.4
258 The Fall Guys 1398.25

sure scoring more points leads to a better record on average, isn't nearly as much as you make it out. See facts above. When the #258 finisher has a better record than the #18 finisher, that means the system is BROKE. That system is H2H. Keep the blinders on :D
There is ALWAYS going to be an exception to the rule, Mark!

My data on the top 15 point leaders over 5+ YEARS of DATA (not ONE person from ONE year..... ) correlating wins with points certainly blows this weak effort out of the water.

He was the ONLY team out of the top 27 with 7 wins (everyone else had more)!!!! So because ONE person out of the top 27 had 7 wins, it is luck based????

Seriously man, you normally come up with a better argument. You must be slipping!

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT G.G. YOU WOULD BE PLAYING IN A HIGH-STAKES FANTASY FOOTBALL EVENT WITH MAYBE 30 OTHER PEOPLE. oh, i don't think it will happen. people love lotteries (daily number, powerball, mega millions, slot machines, etc).

NOW, if a new fantasy football contest emerges that removes most of H2H and the 3 week sprint (when scores reset), they'll get ALL of my money.
It's called FANBALL! :D

http://www.fanball.com/challengegames/?ArenaID=1

- NO H2H

- POINTS ARE BASED ON WEEKS 1-17

-EVERYONE CAN HAVE THE SAME PLAYER!!! So no more complaining "his league is harder than mine", "this player only went for this much in his FAAB, but went this much in mine".

THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE WANTED FOR YEARS!!!!

Based on all your findings, would this not be a high stakes game comprised of MOSTLY skill???

Who knew that the merger with Fanball would be a PERFECT match for you??? :D

the problem with your statement is that it's backward looking. UNLESS you are saying you have an 80% chance to double your investment GOING FORWARD. is that what you are saying?

in addition, i see you always put things in terms of the 14 team NFFC. how about the 12 team leagues? i believe you are in FOUR 12 team main events, yet only ONE 14 team main event. are you using the same 80% payback model in 12 team leagues too?

That Fanball league sounds quite intriguing.
Well, I am on pace to make it to the championship round again in the Classic (albeit currently as the #3 seed).

I have always said there is more strategy in the 14 team event (nothing to do with my success). For the same reasons you feel the 15 team baseball event is more strategy than the 12 team.

I also use the 14 team model because the Primetime hasn't even completed 2 full seasons, and the Classic has 5 full seasons under it's belt.

I think you would agree that MORE DATA/MORE YEARS would show which players have more skill.....er uh I mean "better luck"?
