We're glad to welcome back the father-son team of Alex and Steve Pletkin of Santa Rosa, California to the NFFC as they have just signed up for the NFFC's main event on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at the Stardust Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Alex and Steve have been strong competitors in our National Fantasy Baseball Championship the last two years and they competed for the first time last year in the NFFC. Their Associates Inc. team struggled with injuries in Las Vegas League 3 last year and finished 3-10 with 1,301.95 points. But this year they are done drafting 49ers and hope to return with a money finish!

Welcome back guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We're nearing a full Auction League in Chicago as we now have 12 of the 14 spots filled for this Friday, Sept. 1st event at the Oakbrook Marriott. Jeff Williamson and Jeff Schwartz of Grand Rapids, Michigan became our latest signups as they will return for the Chicago Auction League for the second straight year. Their JJ's Follys team struggled to a 3-10 record last year with 1,271.25 points and missed the playoffs, but they had so much fun with the gang in the Windy City that they are back for another go-around. Welcome back guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $4,000+ in league prizes. Wow, great job in Chicago and it looks like we'll fill this league up well in advance of D-Day. Awesome.

Greg,

If we do get 14 for Chicago, will that be the league?? What I mean is if, by chance, you get 14 additional signups (i.e. 2 leagues) would you throw everyone's name in a hat (ala "the main"), or will the first 14 to signup be put in a league together?

The reason I ask, is I know many of us in Chicago joined the auction because we wanted to go against each other.

Scott Shudy is a loyal reader of Fantasy Sports Magazine which tells me he has great taste in fantasy sports publications. He also was at SportsFest in Chicago today and stopped by my booth and signed up for the Main Event in Vegas. We're happy to welcome Scott to the NFFC family and wish him the best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

Yeah, I can see the comraderie in Chicago, which is why we have so many early signups for this auction league. I have no problem closing this league with the first 14 as it will be mighty tough to get a full second league there. Anyone who signs up after that would have to realize that and be put on standby, so we'll keep that first one intact. The Chicago Draft Champions League will also likely close out early as we have 11 signups right now, another nice luxury we haven't experienced in the Windy City before.

We're glad to welcome back our runner-up to the 2005 grand prize as Scott Stauffer of Duluth, Minnesota has just signed up for the NFFC's main event in Chicago. Scott took home a cool $20,000 from the main event last year as he won Chicago League 2 with a 9-4 record, placing 27th overall with 1,738.85 points. His OUT OF THE SHADOWS team then got hot in the Championship Round and finished second overall with 598.31 points, finishing just 2.09 points behind our eventual champion Josh Ferenc. The race for the $100,000 grand prize literally went down to the final play of the final NFFC game as Josh and Scott had some fun staying in touch with each other during the final week of the playoffs. Great job, Scott, and best of luck this year in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Scott has also signed up for the Chicago Auction League on Friday, Sept. 1st at the Oakbrook Marriott and becomes our 13th signup for that league, leaving us with one open spot. Scott also has signed up for the Chicago Draft Champions League after finishing third last year with 2,370 points, earning another $575. Welcome back for both events Scott and best of luck in the hunt for the $4,000+ in Auction League prizes and the $4,250 Draft Champions League prize.
