Ren, you should be proud of your accomplishment. You suffer from the "oh-so-close-syndrome". This could become serious if you don't snap out of it by the Championship Games. If you let this fester (no offense meant), it could spillover to next years draft. Ted,

I was really being sarcastic but also making a point about the payout. I am proud of my team this year and as I have stated before, in my opinion was as good as anyone if not better on paper. And fantasy sports is mainly played on paper. I was just unlucky in the postseason. I will whine about it all winter and spring and then be ready again to draft next Sept.

My point is that it seems that a team who finishs 5th in the main event should get more than a team who finished 3rd in a consolation bowl. I have talked about how the main thing the NFFC should try to do (other then continuing to run a top notch event with great service) is fatten up prizes behind the top prize. When a team like mine can have that good a season and not win their league, finish fifth in the main event AND earns the same amount as a 3rd place (let alone first place) consoluation bowl team, it makes you wonder. Look at your team. Your team was great and if I read your other posts correct, you were under 500 in your league and clearly did not win it. I do think the new playoff system for each league is a great step in the right direction.

I don't wonder about this at all. Money is paid out acording to the rules ... simple.

In my opinion renman's team is not what anyone is looking for in terms of money payout.

On the other hand ... in a system that is intended to rank the ability of an owner ... how can this team be rated anywhere near the same as the last place team. If Renman (for example) finishes like this 4 years in a row ... and another team wins his league one year and finishes last the next three ... Wouldn't Renman be considered the better FF owner. Anyone can get lucky on any given year. Consistancy and performance needs to be rewarded. We can use money to reward the one hit wonders (oh wait ... we already do that).

Just a thought.

Ugly,

The thing you broke down in that other thread about a statistical way to measure lifetime achievment was GREAT (not good) and I appreciate the effort.

This above post really had nothing to do with lifetime stats as this threads has sort of slowly moved off that topic. It was just about the payout when you look at a 3rd place consolation bowl team making the same as a 5th place finishing main event team. It is stark when you really look at it.

I know what the "rules" are and are happy to play by them. However many of these threads are dedicated to talking about ways to improve the event by changing the rules to make things better. That was my point.

With regard to your lifetime rankings logic. I totally agree with you that more weight should be given to a team who can consistenly finish high from within his/her league over an entire season as opposed to overly rewarding the team who gets lucky once in a big spot but struggles in most other seasons. I agree with you completely with that point.
