Yeah that was telling but don't forget Seattle's GM (John Schneider) came from Green Bay so he knows Flynn very well too. Not as well as Philbin but he wasn't operating in the dark about him.

I'm originally from Seattle and as a lifelong Seahawks fan, I'm hoping Wilson knocks it out of the park on Friday night vs. KC. I did not see much of him in college, but after the small sample size I've seen of Wilson and Flynn, I favor Wilson.

The Seahawks won't be a contender this year outside of the NFC West (which they won two years ago with a 7-9 record, and I still like to laugh about it) so why not let the rookie QB with tons of upside start his development early while the team itself is still rebuilding?

Great early call by Tom here.

Guy played behind an offensive line that averaged 8 feet tall in height (give or take) and had the highest quarterback rating in NCAA history. But because he isn't 6-5 scouts turned their noses up at him.

I'll say this - any team that badly needed a QB this year and passed on Wilson in the draft should fire their head of college scouting. I'm not kidding. This should've been a slam-dunk call. This kid can play and play at a high level and he happens to play the most important position on the field. Teams that needed a QB should've been falling all over themselves to get a shot at him in the draft.

Props to John Schneider for seeing what should've been obvious to everyone.

If the QB battle in Seattle was truly "open" then Russell Wilson has won this job hands down. The guy has played way too well not to be awarded the starting nod. I mean seriously, he's put points on the board regardless of what defensive unit he's went against. I know that they paid Flynn substantial money but you've got to play the best player, don't you?

i'll admit i took a flyer on him last night in my OL even tho I already had my starting qb and backup...just because he seemed to be best player on the board and a playmaker

Pete Carroll said tonight that Wilson will be the starter when the season begins.

Well deserved.

Let's hope the Packers don't get the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game or Tom is going to be conflicted.
