FF Unscientific Poll

As most others have already said, it is pretty much a combination of all three.
Respect from everyone else is what I play for. Knowing you were the best of 14, 300, 9,000, etc. is the "JUICE" for me.
As someone mentioned, money brings out the "best" in people, and high stakes REALLY bring it out.
As far as it being a hobby, that isn't my motive. I can't describe why I don't consider it a hobby, but for all the people out there who CONSISTENTLY lose $$ year in and year out, I just don't get it. For example, whenever I go to the casino, I used to occasionally play Blackjack with my wife. She does well with it, but I do not. Why would I continue to lose $$, when I could do something else?
Just like in Rounders when Matt Damon and the "sharks" are playing against the tourists at the Taj...
