That still doesn't make me a whining crybaby if based on a few years of that, I (and potentially many others) decide not to return. As many have said, the point here is to try to grow the events. Continually shutting out 10 of 12 teams doesn't seem likely to help in that regard, IMO. i'm just tired on the "welfare" mentality (not specifically you). fantasy football is starting to track with the general economy. most owners are looking for a handout. more and more teams need to make the playoffs, more and more teams need to be "in it longer".
IF i had a truly dominating season, i don't want to see some slightly above average team (who should have never made the playoffs), suddenly have a wicked 3 final weeks and win the 100K. might as well play slot machines. seriously.
now adding playoff teams might be a good idea from a game operator's perspective, however as a player who accepts responsibility for my team (good or bad), i don't like it.

HERE'S A NEW IDEA FOR EVERYONE TO CONSIDER....
How about every team makes the overall playoffs (12 out of 12 teams baby) !!!!! that way every team is in it all season long. YA!!!

[/QUOTE]There is a lot of luck involved in every aspect of this game, and if you, Jared and Hollywood can't see that you're fooling yourselves, Mark. Getting off to a fast start can be lucky, having key players not get hurt is lucky, league placement can be lucky ... the list is endless.
Often times the difference between first and fourth can be a matter of a few points, maybe even a single play. I'd rather see more teams fight it out in the playoffs rather than arbitrarily reward the team that may have been luckiest early in the season.
If the best team over 13 weeks is best over the full 16 weeks it won't matter that they have to beat a couple more teams in the playoffs. Baseball goes 26 weeks, if you happen to be leading after the first 16 weeks you don't get jack. If you can't finish, you can't cash.

If you can't finish, you can't cash. nonsense. the only "overall" game i play is the NFFC Classic. according to the rules, 3 teams PER LEAGUE make the overall playoffs PLUS any team scoring in the top 15% of all teams. if your team can't meet any of those criteria, it doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs IMO.
rewarding mediocrity...undermines the fantasy owners who are actually good at this hobby. again, fantasy welfare mentality

I agree with Hollywood. I like it the way it is. I love playing in a H2H format. I love playing in the NFFC and the NFBC. It's my number 1 contest to play. I think Greg and Tom are great guys and I trust them to make the right decisions. I just think if it's not broken why fix it? I've played in some other games where they tried doing stuff like that and those contest's are no longer around. Some tweaks here and there are fine, but I'm against anything major. Keep up the great work Greg and Tom! You'll have me as a player no matter what you decide.

The fact that this comes up each year suggests that there is something to the perception.Joe, I think it also suggests people aren't very familiar with our history. I don't want to speak for Greg but one reason why I typically don't respond to the "Chum Chum Club" comments is because nothing could be further from the truth. Greg and I have made a number of changes over the years to the event and many of those changes have come from suggestions made by a large segment of our participants, not just a select few. The fact we're sending out surveys to our first-time players and to all of our players (you guys will see that one soon) is another example of how we want to hear from everyone, not simply a select few.
It is unfortunate if people believe the silly "Chum Chum Club" actually exists. Perhaps Greg and I need to work harder to dispel that belief since it has no connection to reality in our eyes. But trust me when I say all opinions are always welcome. Greg and I may not agree with all of them but we want to hear what everyone thinks about all we have to offer, whether you're a charter member or playing in the NFFC for the first time this year.

The Chum Chum Club. Very upscale Las Vegas adult Club. Tom I can't believe Greg never told you about it.
