If Your Draft Was Held Today Where Would Culpepper Go?

Greg, even if I wanted Culpepper, he went at 1.11 and I had 1.12. FBG's had Barlow at RB8 followed by Taylor, Lewis, DD, Henry, Faulk and Westbrook. I rejected all of them as first rounders, although Jamal and DD went at 1.9 and 1.10 in my league. Needless to say, those two teams are not doing well.
I needed to foresee Tiki or Curtis or Tom Jones. At draft time, Coughlin was in love with Dayne. I did like Curtis and Jones, but as top 17 picks?... couldn't do it. So how could I dominate? I took Harrison and Holt and was hoping for Dunn in round 3. Dunn went at 3.11 and I was stuck.
Having no RBs, I jumped all over the FA guys. My last pick was a big winner as I got Droughns. I have an outside shot at getting enough points for 3rd now that I have a big RB. If Harrison starts to score like Holt, perhaps I can dream of more.
It's true that Pocket aces has started well in slot 14 having taken Taylor and Westbrook but I think their hot start has a lot to do with having Onterrio Smith from round 10 become a starter for the beginning of the season. Taylor is the 12th best RB in total points and Westbrook stands at 16th. O. Smith has a better points/game than either of those two.
Now comes the luck swings. O. Smith is out and Moore takes over. Pocket Aces has K Rob who rumor has it will be suspended. Droughns is ripping up the turf. So maybe it's a new ballgame. You forgot to tell the world about how you have dropped guys like Bettis, Zereoue and Sammy Morris to start stiffs like Wheatley, Moe Williams and Leonard HenrY!
I am sure you could use those 10+ Td's you put out on the waiver wire now

You mean to tell me that you can't win with just your first pick alone??????
You actually need to draft other players too?
Sorry, feeling sarcastic this morning. I'm still tired from reading all the "I wanna pick my draft position" threads for the past couple of days.
Team NEW did hit on several of his picks, and that is what you need to win, hit the right guys in the lower rounds, and you need more than one to hit. He is stitting pretty strong right. Very impressive.

The draft is the most exciting time of the season, but it's not how championships are won -- in my opinion.

I should have added "in my opinion." I know plenty of fantasy owners who like drafting at the end of the first round. Again, it all boils down to the owner and the strategy they employ during the draft -- not where they're drafting.
In my opinion.
it does provide an unnecessary but AVIODABLE (through blind bidding on draft slots) impediment though. sorry, had to get that in there. I don't see it as an impediment. Your draft position is part of the strategy. You find out where you draft and then you put your plan in place and then attempt to execute it. For me, that's what I enjoy most about the draft -- the pre-draft analyzing and determining the best possible team I can draft from whatever slot I have that season.

Why not just skip the draft and let everyone pick any NFL player every week ? wait maybe instead of picking players we can pick like Cleveland rb's and Tampa bay Qb's..that way you don't have to handcuff or worry about injuries... or maybe make it an auction draft , that way noone can complain they didn't get the player they wanted..or maybe we can make the bench so large we can include college players...I apologize for the sarcasm...damn Yankees !!!

Even more fun is analyzing all the draft positions and how much you value one over the other, and how much everyone else may value one over the other, and what it would take to get the spot you want and then ... waiting for Tom and Greg to draw out of a hat.
OK, I'm done 'til season's end (just couldn't help myself).

What's the point of having different threads if we continually gravitate toward the same debate?
Enough already!
